How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review- Perfect location - Staff very nice - I booked the private room and it is very big - Comfy bed
- There are not appropriate curtains so anyone can see you from outside sometimes and it is a bit uncomfortable especially because there were some guys always in the terrace - There is no AC - No hot water - You can hear absolutely everything from other rooms and outside

Verified reviewReally nice staff, very well located! New comfy bed!
it's a bit too loud at night as my room was facing a parking lot used by the bar and club goers at night

Verified reviewThe location is good, close to the beach and restaurants but not on the main road so relatively quiet in the evening. Rooms are big with high ceiling and there is a hammock in front of the room. Upstairs there were 2 rooms sharing a fridge and microwave, not bad. They take credit cards, with no extra fees, which is quite rare in Roatan. Overall it's like an old tree house, a bit shabby but with nice people running it.
No hot water!! Uncomfortable bed. No extra sheet or blanket to cover. No glass on windows, just a net so you can hear literally everything from 6am on. No A/C just a fan which was not enough in the afternoon. With every car coming to park next to the building, it feels like a small earthquake. Taxes are extra (19%) and Booking. Com writes this in small letters below the total to pay which is a bit confusing.

Verified reviewVery good host. Very good location. Basic accommodation and may be too hot for me with the fan. I was trying to sleep outside of the room which would be much nicer with the breeze.

Verified reviewThe best thing is the position, just 30 metres from the main street in west end but in a quiet street anyway so no problems with the noises of the village. Rooms are huge and all is made by wood, very traditional and exotic, I loved that. I guess there are only 3/4 rooms so it’s quite private.
A bit more of care for the outdoor, like some care for the garden, some plant on the balcony and wood furniture instead of plastic and the level would go up

Verified reviewThe owner and her son were very pleasant. The room, towels and bedding were clean.
There was no hot water or access to a fridge nor a sea view. There are no shutters or glass in the window openings which makes it very noisy. Two nights we were unable to sleep due to the noise of mating frogs. It is also a busy area with loud music. We were meant to stay 7 nights but only managed 3. It is very basic.

Verified reviewThe location is good and it is a good value for money to get a single room
The bed was a bit too small (I am 1.83m) and the roof was leaking a bit during rain and at times I also had some issues with internet connection. You can also hear everything the neighbours do.

Ants in the room. We also needed a refrigerator for my friend's medications. We left after 1 night. They were not too happy about that.

Verified reviewThe owner is a very friendly and helpful lady who clearly cares about giving you the best experience. She offered me to change rooms after the apparently more desirable one became free, but I preferred mine. She also seemed genuinely disappointed when I said I needed to leave a day earlier, even though I was still paying for all the nights. She has 3 cute cats who are well behaved and stay well away from the rooms but are not against a little cuddle if on offer. The location is very close to everything!
Mostly that there was no hot water (even though there is a button for it). On my first couple of days, it was raining and not overly warm, I could have used a warm shower, but generally it's hot enough that hot water is not really needed. The room could benefit from a bed side table lamp for reading.
