Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLocation was good for an overnight, but it's far away from happenings. There was one restaurant and a gas station within walking distance. Everything else was on opposite side of the island. Low Price reflects accessibility though.
Roger was awesome! Very helpful and accommodating!

CanadaThe first floor rooms are underwhelming
The only negative thing I have to say is that I'm mad I only booked one night :( Victoria's was such a nice stay from Roger picking me up at the airport, a brief history lesson on the drive to the house and fresh coffee this morning before check out. The room was huge, the deck outside my room was perfect place to hang out, relax and watch the cruise ships go by. Roger has built a nice patio right on the water with lounge chairs and water access. I can't wait to come back just for Roger alone haha, he was very welcoming and accommodating. The Roatan sign and well stocked gas station (get the beladas) is a 3 minute walk away!

United StatesThe sea is shallow in front of the pier and the bottom can be rocky. Bring hard soled booties or surf Mocs. The reef is not far, but when I went out, the water was often not clear. The colors of coral and sizes of fish are not super impressive. There are far better places on the island to swim and snorkel, with clearer, deeper water. This southwest side of the island is a lot quieter than the northwest side. Fewer bars and restaurants catering to tourists. The patches of beach and roadsides do have a lot of trash. Most places on the waterfront are coral or mangroves, rather than sandy beaches. The room I was in had 2 beds, but the only other furniture was a shaky crate used as a side table. No chair, desk, bedside lamp, TV, closet or dresser. The balcony is shared. The water in the bathroom was unheated, although never really cold. Refreshing. The bathroom fixtures all worked, but were a little shaky and basic.
This place is as shown in the pictures. It is a waterfront property, usually with a good sea breeze. As other reviews point out, Roger is a big plus. Busy, always fixing and improving things around the place. Always friendly and very positive and uplifting. There are a variety of plants, and several places to sit on the balcony and by and over the water. Humming birds often flew to the feeder on the balcony. A big plus that doesn't get a lot of mentions, is guests are allowed to take purified water from the cooler. As in many other places, the water here is not safe to drink from the tap. Many hotels will give one bottle of water, then you have to buy water, which can be expensive. He also allows use of his refrigerator and some kitchen facilities. There are many local eateries and small convenience stores along the road. The Petrosun gas station sells drinks and snacks and familiar fast food. No cooked vegetarian options. It is a 5 or so minute walk. Transportation is convenient here to get to the capital, Coxen Hole, where there is a full, less expensive grocery store, Eldon's. Use shared vans or taxis, which are quite affordable. Easy to get around the western end of the island for entertainment or water sports, or the airport and ferry terminal. My bedroom had nice hardwood floors and ceiling. Two windows. I often saw waterfowl fishing in the shallows. Roger picked me up at the airport and took me back for the return flight, for $30 total. Of course, this family run and owned hotel, is very affordable. I took it easy and enjoyed.

United Statesthere are a few eat spots in either direction, in the area, but not alot. You will have to walk a bit to get food. If you buy from the gas station, bring your own bag is suggested but they have some decent food for a decent price. The property was perfect.
The family hosting the beach house are a great family and will try and accommodate anything you request or at least help you find what you are looking for.

United StatesSuch a homey and comfortable place to stay! Slightly off the beaten path, but it's so easy to take a taxi to wherever you'd like to go on the island. The hosts picked me up from the airport and then took me to a grocery store on the way so I could pick up some essentials, which was lovely!

United StatesA bit shallow, but doable, for heading out for a quick snorkel from the dock
Close to airport, on the water, quiet, personable, casual, friendly, several spots to sit and enjoy the sun, water, views of cruise ships coming and going… from a distance.

United StatesRoger was super helpful and informative. Shared great places to eat, pieces of history, and made us feel like family. He told us how much we *should* pay for a Taxi to West End and what common costs are for certain things which that alone made the stay well worth it. We only stayed one night, prior to our flight out of Roatan (we had been on Utila) so we don't have much to comment on. Simple room. The bed was comfy. The access to the water to relax and read was great. Our stay at Victoria Beach fantastic.

United StatesNo hot water and the bathroom is quite basic as others described.
Good location for getting in from the airport and leaving the next day for the early ferry. Roger was so nice and great to communicate with ahead of time. He picked us up from the airport and took us to the ferry for reasonable cost, which was really great. Happily paid $10 for AC, otherwise would be way too hot.

United KingdomThe property itself is very rustic, so perhaps not for you if you’re looking for luxury.
Roger was an excellent host - even before we arrived he told us how much to expect to pay for the taxi so we didn’t get ripped off. He suggested things to do on the island and took us to the beach for a small fee. The property is located right on the water (a snorkelling area, not a swimming area) so we were able to go out and see the fish with the snorkel our host provided.
