How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The owners don’t speak English at all!The rooms are not as they seem. Very smal. You have to go down 3 floors with steps! And the go up again the same way! I was exhausted!! The beach that is 10 min away also has like 100 steps! They are not honest on booking!! Very expensive for what it offers! I don’t recommend!

Verified reviewThe couple who hosted us were so lovely! They were friendly and welcoming and although they spoke little English they both had such warm smiles! The lady always had clean towels for us and even changed the bedding! She also offered us freshly made cake which was so delicious! The location was in a nice spot about a 20 minute walk from the old town!

Verified reviewGuest house Raguz had everything we needed for our short stay in Dubrovnik. It was a lovely homey place to stay, Ivan and his wife were very welcoming. They had a beautiful garden terrace full of plants where we sat with a cup of tea. It was a 15 minute walk to the old town and it was easy to park our car on the street for free. Some people mentioned issues with booking via direct booker but we had no problems there.
The room was a bit dated. The air conditioner dripped when it was turned on.

Verified reviewThe place was really clean. The bed was nice and big and the shower was nice. Outside was a beautiful terrace full of flowers, which the owners looked after really well. The place was just a 20 minute walk to the old town and the area was nice and quiet.
The Direct Booker (not the owners) send me the same automatic message over and over again without answering me directly. Until we arrived that caused stress, because I didn't know if everything was coming across. When we arrived the owners were very nice though. Also, the wifi was bad.

Verified reviewGuest House Raguz is run by an absolutely lovely couple - Ivan and his wife (I'm not sure of her name). They did not speak much English but were really welcoming, friendly and take such great care of their beautiful garden which surrounded the property. There is a great terrace to sit on and admire the abundance of gorgeous flowers and plants! The room was clean, comfortable and cosy. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the property into the old town of Dubrovnik. It feels like a much less touristy area and more where the locals live. And I would recommend a visit to a bar/cafe around the corner called Roxy's.
One thing to note is that you will need to pay in cash on arrival. Not too much of an issue but it would have been good to know beforehand.

Verified reviewReally lovely hosts and the room was exactly what I needed for the few days I was there. Cool and comfortable.
The walls are a bit thin and unfortunately I had noisy 'neighbours' who came back very late one night. But that is not really a failing of the property - more a rudeness on the part of the other guests.

Verified reviewGuest House Raguz was very easy to find, close to the bus stop and only 10 minutes' walk from the beautiful Old Town in Dubrovnik. The owners of the property live right there so it was easy to arrive and get the keys to our room. The kind owner gave us a nice cold beer each as a welcome gesture which was very much appreciated on a very hot day. The room was small but clean and it had a fridge and a kettle. The day we were leaving the lady owner was very kind to let us leave our luggage in her apartment until we needed it. Overall, we recommend staying here.
The wifi was not working properly.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with Guest House Raguz in Dubrovnik, and to request an appropriate refund due to several serious issues we encountered. Although the listing mentioned that the property was “not accessible to upper floors,” at no point did it clarify that absolutely no floor was accessible without climbing multiple sets of stairs. Upon arrival, we had to carry our luggage up and down a considerable number of steps — a detail that should have been clearly communicated in the description. Another issue we encountered is that although our Booking.com confirmation stated that the reservation was already paid, we were still charged the full amount again in cash upon arrival. This inconsistency was frustrating and completely unexpected. In addition, the hosts did not speak English, which made communication extremely difficult and confusing during check-in. Most concerning, however, was the hygiene situation: while the apartment initially appeared clean, when we went to bed we noticed that the bed sheets had stains of menstrual blood, clearly indicating they had not been properly washed after the previous guest. This is unacceptable by any hospitality standard. ( I hace pictures and I showed to he owner) Considering the above — misleading information, lack of basic communication, payment confusion, and serious hygiene problems — we are requesting a refund for this stay. I trust that Booking.com, as a platform that guarantees a certain standard of quality and trust for travelers, will take this matter seriously and respond accordingly. Additionally, I would like to mention that the Wi-Fi connection did not work at all during our entire stay. This was particularly frustrating, as we had specifically chosen a quiet apartment in hopes of being able to work remotely while in Dubrovnik. In today’s context, reliable internet access is an essential service — especially when advertised as available.

Verified reviewLovely terrace areas with beautiful flowers and spectacular views towards the neighborhood and the mountains. Spacious, cozy and clean room with nice and well-equipped bathroom. Friendly and helpful owners Good location in a peaceful part of the city, a bit less than 2 km to the old town. Good connections to the main bus station and the port as well. A small supermarket next door and 10 minutes´ walk to the nearest beautiful beach (Bellevue beach, a lot of stairs though, like otherwise in the neighborhood as well).
