How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMarija, the host exceeded our expectations on arrival and throughout. We arrived on a bank Holiday when all the shops were closed and she had provided bread, cheese, ham cake, eggs, water, juice, beer and wine for us. Throughout our stay she unintrosively checked all was okay and offered to hold our bags after checkout as we had a flight later in the evening. 100% pleased.
We did not find any issues or fault during our stay.
Thank you very much. Best regards Marija

Verified reviewUpon arrival we were greeted by our lovely hostess, who gave us a tour of our apartment and showed us the amenities including a fridge she had stocked for us with a variety of drinks. The location is amazing, within 5 minutes we were in the heart of the old town and in under 10 minutes at Lidl. Our hostess would check in with us and always offered advice which we appreciated a lot. We couldn’t have wished for a better hostess!! Uber is also very affordable here, we would pay €4 for an uber to Kasuni beach, which saved us the 50 minute walk! We did however generally walk everywhere, as the location is simply perfect.
Thank you very much Best regards Marija

Verified reviewMarija had prepared plenty of drinks in the fridge, which the kids absolutely loved. Although we arrived a bit late, Marija warmly welcomed us and patiently introduced the place. The house is not far from the port and bus station, and it’s close to all the main attractions. The path to the house is uphill, which can be a bit tiring when pushing large suitcases. However, our 8-year-old child managed to push our 23kg suitcase all the way—so it’s definitely manageable. Lidl is very close by, and there are also shops along the way to the attractions. There’s a drying rack, which is great for hanging laundry. The interior of the house isn’t brand new, but it’s well-equipped with everything we needed. Perfect size for 4 people—just right for our family.
The electric kettle wasn’t working perfectly, but the stove heated water quickly enough.
Thank you very much. Best regards from Split Marija

Verified reviewThe owner Marija's hospitality. I don't know how she keeps her spirit of hospitality going for every guest. She has stocked some drinks in the fridge, ground coffee beans, tea bags, sugar etc. There are a filter coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, pans and kitchenware. So, I did not have to eat out for every meal and could relax well. There is an air con. The shower was good. The location is convenient, deceptively close to the Old Town centre with small food shops nearby or supermarkets are not far away.
Noise from the people and vehicles in the streets. But I think this is the case for all the accommodation in such a central area of Split. Also, this is not what I did'nt like--just a tip for future guests: some electrical equipment may not work staight away, in which case, just try a different socket.
Thank you Best regards Marija

Verified reviewFantastic location! It's within a few minutes of Old Town so it's very convenient. Marija doesn't speak English but she is very friendly nontheless. She let us use her terrace and was very welcoming. I reached out via Whatsapp to coordinate check-in/out. Overall, it's a very spacious and comfortable place.
Parking is very difficult in this area - even the paid lot was completely full so we had to circle the street a few times to find a spot. I noticed there was only body wash when we arrived. Marija might have some shampoo/conditioner but we had our own so we didn't check.
Thank you Best regards Marija

Verified reviewA short walk from the city centre but also fantastically based close to the beaches and a lovely bakery. Very quiet escape in the city. It was also lovely that she had put drinks in the fridge which was a welcomed treat. Available kettle, coffee, percolator, stove, washing machine. Everything needed.
Linguistic barriers meant I couldn’t understand what the owner wanted to show us totally but we got by and she was so very welcoming.

Verified reviewThis is a compact but very well appointed apartment in an excellent location in the old town of Split. Two showers and toilets is remarkable in such a small apartment, making it ideal for up to 4 adults travelling together. The hostess made us feel super welcome and the fridge was stocked with a variety of drinks for our enjoyment. The host doesn't speak English (her husband does but we didn't meet him), but fluent German so we got by. Beds were very comfortable with good bed linen and towels. Air conditioning and fans were effective to keep the rooms cool.
I would rate this apartment 10 except for one thing. The hot water in the shower was very difficult to control, temperature would change from cold to hot or hot to cold randomly, without adjusting the mixer. This is a nuisance at best, but dangerous at worst, particularly for young children showering independently. Offsetting this, there is a second shower in the apartment, which we didn't use - maybe the water temperature control was better in this shower.
Sorry for the shower. Thank you Best regards Marija

Verified reviewKameni Val is just like home but better. Everything you could possibly need was provided, even a panini press. Marija was lovely and extremely helpful and kind. The fridge was stocked with bottled water, Fanta and even a bottle of wine. All cooking utensils and crockery were provided. Teas and coffees and sugar were also available. The bedroom was cosy and had a secure door leading out to the patio which also had a locked gate. All keys were provided. I had access to a few patios and a clothes line. There was an unlimited supply of towels, cloths and tea towels, kitchen towel and toilet rolls. The house is just a 5 minute walk to the Riva and close to the Marjan park. I would book it again and have recommended to all the people in my travel group. Thank you Marija.
Thank you Best regards Marija
