How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewWe loved our time at this hotel. It is located very close to the centre but on an incline. Hotel is of a very high standard especially the pool area. Rooms are small but most rooms have a beautiful view from the balcony. Beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning is automatically controlled making rooms more comfortable. Staff are friendly efficient and helpful and we were very impressed that our luggage was collected from the port and transported to our hotel and again on departure dropped to the port free of charge. The restaurant and pool bar offer a reasonably priced good quality varied food and drinks menu. Breakfast which is included in the price was very good. We will be back.
The hotel is located on a hill so it is not suitable for anyone with poor mobility. Would like tea and coffee making facilities in the room and felt water should have been provided free of charge.

The pool stairs was super slippery, and I slipped down all the steps, as did another person on the same day. I hurt my knee and have a 20 cm purple bruise on my bum. All other guests went down so carefully that they probably also knew they had to watch out. When I reported this to multiple staff members, only one asked if I was ok, the other said ow maybe because some children were playing there. No compassion and I am sure they are not looking into this, while someone can break something. Normal poolsteps have some holes in it for the water to go through instead of staying on the step. Please note another review of July 2024 where this was also reported to the hotel. Nothing apparently has happened. Furthermore, the rooms were small for a 4 star restaurant, simple shower, dinner service food not 4 star quality. For me it was not worth the money for a 4 star hotel. Also, it was a very steep climb up hill, for us ok to do max 2 times a day (without luggage) but worth to consider if you are a bit older or not as fit before booking this hotel. 50 euro deposit per Night for me is also rediculous.

So over the past 10 years I have stayed at your hotel 7 or 8 times. But when I check-in staff never seem to know that I am a returning guest. I have always booked through booking.com, so I am not sure why my history is not visible .

The room was too small - not easy to store the stuffs of 2 persons for only 3 days. It's possible to park your car near to the hotel, but I think it's good to know that except for the 5-6 places in front of the building, for the rest it is "wild parking", which works and is kind of allowed around there.

It is wrong for the hotel to ask and get a deposit for each day 50 euro. Even the best hotels do not collect a deposit in advance. If the person causes a problem in the hotel or damages the room, then the money is collected. You are a hotel, not renting a house. So how many days you stay you must to pay 50 euro for each day not acceptable. Also you not drink anything else from minibar but they add some water prices in your bills so be careful guys and check very deeply with reception.

Verified reviewThe Pharos Hvar Bayhill is a fantastic property with a spacious layout. The entire place is exceptionally clean, including the pool and pool water, which are both very well maintained. Drinks at the pool bar are reasonably priced, and the restaurant menu is also quite affordable. Breakfast offers a wide variety of options, and the live omelette counter quickly became my all-time favorite. The rooms look exactly as shown in the pictures, and the air conditioning works perfectly, making the stay even more comfortable. The property is accessible both on foot (though a few stairs need to be climbed) and by vehicle. The hotel also provides pickup and drop-off services, though we didn’t use them. Its location is excellent—just a 5–7 minute walk to the main center. Additionally, scooters, quad bikes, and cars are available for rent at very reasonable prices, and the rental agency is highly recommended.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very well located, the room was clean, and breakfast and restaurant were great. All the staff was also very helpful during the whole of our stay (they offer a service to take our luggage to the port which is very handy, and we booked a tour to the Vis island with the reception desk that also saved us time). Would definitely come back.
Our mattress was a bit old and uncomfortable.

Verified reviewAmazing people are working there! Everyone was supper nice. Room was amazing with beautiful view. Clean and tidy. Breakfast were included and it was tasty, I noticed there are great variety of food you can chose for breakfast. Location is great as well 10 min till town center. Only issues it is when you are walking towards to hotel you are walking bit up hill, but with a great view. Nice bonus is restaurant for lunch and dinner in the hotel was chipper than places in the city center (still tasty) which was very convenient if you don’t want to go to the center and stay by the pool.
Only issue was with the bed. They put 2 mattresses in one big platform and because the platform didn’t have any frames mattresses were constant moving.
