Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

LithuaniaThe place is magical. A 3km drive up a very bumpy gravel track makes it well isolated so it is incredibly quiet. Just the sound of birds and insects. On the first night we saw lots of fire flies glowing in the garden which was a real treat for children. The facilities are basic, but made up for it being such an amazing atmospheric place. Ivan the host cooks great traditional Hungarian food every night and for breakfast and even catered for our vegetarian friend. So many hikes straight from the doorstep. We did a day hike to Lillafured which was like something from a fairy tale. Then on up the opposite side to visit some huge natural caves. There is so much to do straight from the house that I would love to stay longer. A 10 minute walk takes you to a great sunset view point.

AustraliaIf you don't have a car, just keep in mind that you'll need to either hike/walk up (about 45 minutes from the road) or catch the chairlift (libego) so willneed to consider that timing. No curtains on windows (fine for me but might bother some people).
Felt very welcomed from the minute I walked in to the minute I left. The room was very clean. Istvan was very helpful with planning trails and things to do. I also had the place to myself for the first two nights and felt safe.

PolandThis wonderful place is off the path and surrounded by the buk tree forest of the hungarian National Park. We spent there 3 nights and I truly recommend this place! The owner Istvan was such a nice person! We would like to see him again!🥰❄️🤗🤗🐶🌞 We had no problem finding the way to Feherkolapa. Our room was very cosy and warm with a nice bathroom and the forest view. Istvan prepared for us very good breakfasts and dinners. And his "leczo" was truly amazing! The real winter was there during our stay and all the area looked like in the Narnia fairytale! going back to the room through the dark and snowy forest 500 m up made our staying unforgettable! I recommend staying at Feherko Lapa Turistahaz if you are planning to have an hiking trip in the Lillafured area and meeting great hungarian people! Agnieszka and Sławek from Krakow

United KingdomThe level of comfort was below average. There was no air con or fan and the bedding was not the most comfortable. The sheets on the mattress were old and bobbly and the mattresses were firm. I would still recommend however even though it was rustic.
Unusual and remote location best accessed by car along a gravel track above lillafured. Once installed there it is ideal to walk down the beautiful forest track to lillafured (1 hour to the palota and lake) and you can take advantage of other forest hikes but be careful with your map and also good to use apps like strava as backup. The property is a cross between a home stay/bunk house/forest lodge. Istvan single handedly appeared to run it and cooked us lovely breakfast of sausage onion omelette and fresh home made bread. We stayed 2 nights and had delicious goulash soup and deer stew which was mouth watering and slow cooked. There is not really a choice of what to eat so it’s more like being a paying guest but I got the impression he would cater for dietary requirements if warned. You would be best to eat dinner on site unless you want to drive on the 3 km difficult road after dark. The setting is unique and you can star gaze and hear wild life. It is memorable. You can have a nice lunch in the palota hotel by the lake.

HungaryIt wasn’t about the property per se, just because it is so far, it’s kinda hard to reach. But the area is close to the chairlift, if the chairlift is open, this hotel can be reached easily
The house is lovely, especially istvan the owner. This place is kinda hard to reach by walking, pretty challenging but it doesn’t matter if you are an adventurer. The food was great, the hospitality too. The rooms seem just renovated. It was amazing experience

United KingdomIstvan (I am sorry if I have spelled this incorrectly) and his wife are wonderful hosts. They are kind and generous and nothing is too much for them. The food is home cooked. We stayed for 6 nights and had the pleasure of trying a variety of traditional Hungarian meals. My favourites were the venison goulash and the bean goulash. My daughter is a little fussy and so Istvan learned the English for asking what her favourite food was and she had pizza the next day! Istvan's English is good and he uses a translator app for anything he is unsure of and so communication is good. The hotel is at the end of a three and a half km track, on top of a forested hill. It is beautifully isolated. There are many labelled trails around the hill and you can walk down a steep path into the village of Lillafured. If you visit the tourist centre in the village you can get a free map showing all the trails. There is also a cable car, which can take you up and down the hill. This is the only public transport to the hotel as taxis will not take you down the track. We did not have a car, as didn't another couple there. They used the cable car to get to the hotel and Istvan kindly picked us up from the bus stop. Walking down the hill when we left was fairly easy, but walking up, with bags, would be difficult. Unfortunately, I broke my arm, whilst out walking. Istvan insisted on organising for his friends, Veda and David to take me to the hospital. They waited with me all day and brought me back with a Hungarian souvenir plaster cast. I am indebted to them all. Despite this mishap we had a very enjoyable stay and I fully recommend it.

GermanyBe aware that it's not easy to reach without a car: either walking up the hill for ca. 25-30 min or taking a cablecar. There is nothing around but nature, the next supermarket is 40 min walking. So be prepared - if you need something, take it with you.
Amazing place! We spent a week in this place and it was a great time! The host is lovely, the food was simple but super tasty (we had dinner every day and sometimes breakfast)! The house is immersed in nature - inside of the forest with lots of opportunities for hiking. We were looking for a quite place in the nature and this hotel completely met the expectations.

IsraelWe didn’t miss a thing
We were looked after by a wonderful owner who catered to our every need. The setting is embraced by a natural haven of hiking trails, and the hotel's cuisine proved to be exceptionally satisfying, even earning the approval of our kids. Though the rooms may be petite, they offer great value for the cost. Without a doubt, we plan to revisit in the future.

HungaryIt was an incredible experience, a comfortable little cottage in the middle of the woods, with the world's kindest host, and homemade dinner, which was one of the most delicious I've ever had on a trip like this. My partner and I came for a hiking trip around Lillafüred, and this was the most perfect little stop for our evening! I absolutely recommend it to everyone thinking about staying in the area.

MaltaWe were asked not to use too much water for showering (cause expensive), and take down any waste that we had, like not to use the garbage cans there, cause it is too expensive to take down. This would be fine, if the price was lower, but for the amount of a cheaper hotel, we did not expect this. Owner made degrading comments when we asked if there are vegetarian options for lunch, even though we obviously asked, because one of us needed it.
The location of the place is great! Viewpoint and cable car all really close.
