How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewInitially booked for two days and the experience was really awful because I encountered some really racist women at the reception desk. But that wasn't all that was bad. I came across this racist woman and apparently hardcore feminist when I renewed for 2 more days. She said I initially was in an 8 beds room and that my current booking is a 6 beds room even though I booked the middle option in both instances. Then this racist lady said I have to checkout on 11am then come back on 3pm. I tried to get answers from her on why that was the case and why I have to checkout then come back in 4 hours but then she began screaming at me like a manic and said you can't mansplain things to me. Once I realised I'm dealing with a racist woman and hardcore feminist that seemingly wants to wipe all men off the face of the earth I left the hostel and returned by 3pm. But she kept screaming again when she saw me in Hungarian and kept saying bad things about me to her colleagues. I understand some Hungarian. And the worst thing is I asked her before her manic episode began why are you putting me in different rooms all of a sudden when I paid for the same type of room from the beginning and she said WE DECIDE. Meaning it doesn't matter even if you paid for the top option and they'll still put you in whatever room their racist minds decide it is the most suitable room for you. Also in both rooms the AC doesn't work and from knowing a few other hostel guests they all said the same thing. The AC doesn't work when it is still hot at night. Bathrooms are outside of the rooms in both room types. And there are only 3 bathrooms and 3 or 4 shower rooms per floor and there are 19 rooms in each floor and each has an average of 6 to 8 individuals. So buckle up to waiting for hours in the morning when all are occupied.

Verified reviewThe location is great, and the women at the reception were very kind and friendly. I also appreciated the option to check in online — very convenient.
It wasn’t very clean. There was only one large towel per guest — I think providing at least one more wouldn’t be too much trouble. Also, there was a sink in the room, which felt a bit odd, though it’s a minor issue. The lack of bedside tables was also inconvenient.

Verified reviewAmazing hostel, the staff was kind and helpful, the location was perfect, close to two subway stations. It took literally a couple minutes to walk to the Central Market and Váci Street, and 20 minutes to walk to the Parlament. The hostel is also silent at night and the beds are very comfortable, each bed has curtains for privacy.
They could improve the cleanliness of the dorms. I was there for 6 days and they only took out the trash, but the bathroom inside the female dorm wasn't frequently cleaned. I understand the guests should cooperate, but unfortunetelly not everyone helps keeping the cleanliness. Overall, the rest of the hostel was clean and tidy.

Verified reviewWe loved the location - so central to all the good stuff and to transport. It was a large, clean room and the airconditioning was most welcome - I just had to text reception to request the temperature and they were very responsive so we got a comfortable night's sleep. There was a great kitchen area for our section and it was brand new and clean. Couldn't fault the place.
I can't think of anything, perhaps the bathroom could have been larger in proportion to the room? Everything was great.

Verified reviewLocation and staff are great, close to many options for food, grocery stores, shops, and easy access to public transportation.
Hotel is being refurbished and we stayed at a room on the 1st floor, which is not super convenient - no elevator access, to cite one. Also we could smell sewage from our room, from some construction at street level.

Verified reviewThe beds: comfy, stable, tall enough to sit up, and they are made for you. The doors close out corridor noise. The bathrooms that give you privacy. Somebody designed this place with heart and soul. Thank you!

Verified reviewLocation was amazing. The property is super cute super kind helpful staff
The toilet was super high so when me and my friends sat down we couldn’t touch the floor. This has never happen3d in my life we are normal sized. It’s impossible to poo like that, was a hassle. Had to use the trash to put my feet on top of for some comfort

Verified reviewGreat location, almost on top of the market.
Odd route to room should really be highlighted in advance. Out to a balcony walk at night, almostvno lighting. Odd and exciting but should be communicated.

Verified reviewThe best hostel I've ever been. So comfortable. I love my stay here. Staff are nice and considerate. I will come back. They have a huge common area, kitchen where you can relax and wait before check in. big lockers
They are building something when I came. Sometimes the lift is blocked with materials, could be dusty but that is fine.

Verified reviewThe location was very good. The beds were comfortable and we especially loved the privacy curtains and the lockers beneath the bed.
They did some renovations and a lot of the time some of the shared toilets and showers were closed.
