How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location, room equipped with its own fridge, kettle, and fan. Friendly and helpful staff who keep the common areas clean and equipped
The common area is far from a well-renovated standard, so even though the staff cleans it daily, the surroundings still seem neglected but the price for this localisation justifies the upkeeps of this place

Verified reviewThe room was okay, quiet and peaceful, clean. The check-in abd check-out was easy and comfortable.
There is only one bathroom for the rooms which is not enough:/ And the ac didn’t feel like it cooled the air, the room was hot during the day and the night while we stayed there.

Verified reviewThe reviews concerned us before arriving, however this property was great for the price. A great, central location. Peter was responsive and very helpful upon check in. Our room was very spacious with a fridge, microwave and an aircon/fan. The apartment had small a kitchen with an area to cook & everything we needed. Would definitely recommend, especially for the price.

Verified reviewPlace is quiet, and it's the best option for price/quality. A few small supermarkets nearby, tram station. it's tricky to use the washing machine, because it's always busy, but it's possible. Didn't user the kitchen, but each room has a microwave and electric kettle and a fridge.
There's just one shower and toilet for 5 rooms which sometimes isn't enough, but for the price - it's great, I can live with that. Adding more lights to the room could be a good idea

Verified reviewbig room with couch, water kettle, big bed, towels included, clean, small shared kitchen with pans available to use, fridge, microwave, great location to the city center, metro, bus and tram nearby, many supermarkets and restaurants in the area.
a bit noisy from the busy street. the first interaction with the manager (Peter) was very weird because he accused us that we didn't read his messages for the check-in but in reality it was him who didn't read the messages. even when he realized that he was wrong he didn't apoligize or anything. at least he became more friendly the following interactions. would recommend the place anyways for the easygoing travelers.

I informed them of my approximate arrival time 3 days in advance. When I got to the Budapest train station, I messaged them again and told them that I would be there in 20 minutes. I know for a fact that they received and read this message, prior to my arrival, by the timestamp on their reply, which I received later. They were notified in advance, accurately to the minute, of my arrival time. When I got there the door was locked and there was no one to meet me or let me in. There were no markings to indicate that this was a guesthouse, or that I had the correct address. I waited on the sidewalk for nearly 40 minutes, trying to find someone to let me in. Finally, a man emerged, but rather than apologize for making me wait 40 minutes, he was enraged, and angrily berated me for ringing the bell so much. He was so angry, at one point he stared at me hard, and moved toward me in a very aggressive manner. I said to him "If you try and hit me, or beat me up, I will call the police, and press charges." I have never had to say that to an innkeeper on check-in before. He said his name was Tomas. Finally, he calmed down and showed me to my room. The bathroom sink was so tiny you could barely use it. If you touch the shower curtain, it falls on the floor. The bed clothes smelled of urine. Over the past 2 years I have booked over a hundred stays around the world with booking.com. This is the worst place I have ever seen.

the inside of the apartment looks outdated and under construction, there is only one toilet..the walls are really thin, it was hard to close the window in my room..sometimes there are shady looking locals living there who doesn't respect other guests being loud even after 10 pm
