How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Location was great and stuff were very lovely. But when i was delivered my bed, it wasn’t clean totally, they were trash on it. Also i wouldn’t sag the bathrooms were very hygienic, but overall was a good experience

When i arrived ,in my bed were missing the pillowcase and the mattress sheet.
The room was big and well organized. I liked the bed with their own curtains and power outlets, also the lockers system.

Wifi was on and off, mostly off. Cleaners didnt really clean the room. Rubbish that was left from other guests not in the bin were just left on the floor. They only changed the bins but didnt clean the room

I would really appreciate it to be given at least one smaller towel for free, I brought my own but I think you can only rent one from the Hostel for money. Given there are multiple people per room, the room gets dirty much quicker and could get cleaned more often, but still the cleanliness wasn't too bad
Amazing location and a great building overall, especially the common area is beautiful. I was in a 4 women dorm with a private bathroom which was super spacious and it was very nice to have the ensuite bathroom. The beds were very comfortable with very intelligent facilities right by the bed (charging sockets, a small safe for valuables, your own fan / air conditioning, a small "bedside" table, a lamp and curtains) There was a great air condition in the room which was super nice given it was 30°C outside.

Watch out for kitchen thieves!!! I was there one night and tucked my brekkie in the back of the fridge and the next morning gone. The kitchen was also not in the best condition and very dirty.
Very clean with great facilities. There is a buffet breakfast but also a cafe and bar too. the communal space downstairs was lovely and the location fantastic! Would definitely stay again. Stayed in an all female dorm - bed have curtains for privacy, a safe and we have private lockers in the room too. Great facilities. Huge bathroom too!

Left my luggage for few hours after checking out. According to the reviews prior to the booking it was supposed to be free of charge, but it wasn't. Which was a bit disappointing considering i spent 4 nights there.

Disadvantage of central location is that restaurants close by were opened until late night and street was very loud. Private room furniture was very basic. For my next stay I will select bit more expensive hotel instead of this private room in hostel as it was anyway quite expensive EUR 135 / night. When I arrived, reception gave me originally the room which was not yet cleaned.
Wombat hostel is in central Budapest location close to Deak Ferenc square in downtown. Advantage of the location is plenty of restaurants around the hostel. I had private room - room and bathroom were both spacious. There is possibility to have inexpensive extra charge simple buffet breakfast.

Kitchen could been cleaned UP, much more times during The day. Ganagd needs to be more retrived more times during The day since a lotvof People uses it.

The AC needs to be fixed and there needs to be more lighting in the rooms they are very dimly lit. Also, considering it’s a hostel they must create whatsapp groups for guests to socialise and organise events/ socials to engage guests as other hostels do.

No soap provided in the bathrooms.
Bar was fantastic- as were the staff! Made some great friends, had a brilliant night out. Very good value for money. Beds were comfortable. Perfect location, right in the city and near the airport bus. I have stayed with Wombats before and, as always, will continue to recommend them.

It located right in the middle of the busiest part of Budapest where near to many shops and bars. Good for people who love hangouts. Bad for people who want a quality sleep. Receptionists went out to smoke and talk when I wanted to check-in.
