“The best thing about this no-frills homestay is its location right on the beach with a nice veranda in front. Having your banana pancake/fresh fruit breakfast gazing out over the water and watching the fishermen going about their daily chores, is a truly relaxing experience. Gili Gede is a heaven for those looking for authentic Indonesian village life. Chicken, goats and the occasional water monitor inhabit the land, amazing coral reefs and tropical fish the waterworld. And the 1000 or so inhabitants always have a smile ready for you. Gili Gede is a world not yet lost to invasive tourism. So, don’t come here if your looking for wild beach parties and KFC. If you do come, I recommend you choose Sentigi homestay. The amiable Sahir will welcome you with open arms. And at the end of the day, I recommend having a drink at the Sunset Bar, a 20 minute stroll away. Glorious.”
“We spent 4 nights in Kokomo and we absolutely loved every second of it - we hope we can come back soon. The staff is extremely nice, the room was super comfortable, and the location is just perfect.
Although there is no direct access to the sea or a beach, the pool is beautiful and quiet, and the pool and restaurant areas allow you to relax just in front of the sea. It’s also easy to get on the boats to go for snorkelling tours - we did so for two days.
The breakfast is wonderful and you get a lot of choice of everything. We loved the pancakes! The restaurant for dinner is more expensive than the average, but it is not comparable to the rest of Gili Gede offer. The fish BBQ is great and super tasty. We also tried other restaurants nearby and can confirm this was the best fish we had.”
