Adventure Turtle Homestay Meru Betiri is one of the most remarkable places I have ever been

I wish I could stay longer in the homestay :)

From the very first day, the hostess welcomes you with genuine warmth and gives you her full attention. She can show you around the village, take you to the crop fields and orchards, tell you about real life in this part of the world, and introduce you to neighbours and relatives, so you soon feel as if you’re becoming part of an Indonesian family. If you decide to stay at the homestay for a few days, you’ll have the chance to take part in unforgettable adventures in the nearby wild tropical jungle and on the Sukamade turtle beach. The hostess helps arrange everything—excellent drivers and guides who will bring you to the homestay or take you anywhere in Indonesia and show you some of the most extraordinary places on earth. As if that weren’t enough, she creates authentic culinary wonders of Indonesian cuisine, tailored to your preferences—whether you prefer meat dishes or a vegetarian diet. All this comes at very low prices—even compared with other local homestays. Adventure Turtle Homestay Meru Betiri is one of the most remarkable places I have ever been, and I would love to come back.

The place is amazing, so calm and beautiful. Sri is a great host, she was treating me like a friend and not only a guest. We had the opportunity to spend some time talking even if I was there only for one night. She organised a trip to a nearby beautiful beach, where there were only some local fishermen and on the next morning a turtle trip. A big thank you to Sri and her relatives, I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

    Nothing, it felt like home.

Everything was amazing, we were supposed to stay just 2 nights and we ended up staying 4!! Sri, the host of the homestay, is just wonderful. She is friend with everyone in the village and she can show you around or give you great recommendations, specially if you are the type of traveller that wants to avoid crowds. I highly recommend staying here and explore the area, also don't be shy about talking with Sri about anything (including prices if you are not convinced), she is the kindest and will explain everything, since she always wants to make sure their guests are happy with their experience at her place. Also, she cooks all meals herself (and sometimes with her family) and it is the best food we've had in all Indonesia so far.

Make sure you bring enough cash. There is no atm in the village. Contact Sri beforehand for tours and prices. No grab here, so quite dependent on hotel offered taxi.

Sri is very helpful and friendly. She showed us the neighbourhood, the village life and she offered a tour to the national park. Beautiful region to stay. Good local food.

    Nothing

Sri is just the nicest host! We originally wanted to stay two nights but ended up doing so many different tours with her so we extended to five nights! Just ask her for your tour wishes and she will make it happen! And she can also help you with how to get there and basically everything you need. On top of that she is a great cook! If you are looking for a way to get in touch with the locals in the most beautiful area of East Java you can stop searching! Just the best homestay experience in Java 5/5 thank you for everything Sri!

As we went from Bali to East-Java, my friends and I wanted to escape the more busy and touristy spots in Bali and experience nature in Java. Thanks to the host Sri we got everything we expected and even more! The tour she offered us included going to the jungle and the turtle beach in Meru Betiri National Park. Plus she showed us around in her town and we got to taste some local fruit and meet with the neighbours. The room was very clean and the view from our room was spectacular. The Indonesian food she served us had to be the best we experienced during our trip here. Thank you Sri for the wonderful stay! It was amazing and definitely exceeded our expectations!

The only way to and from the property is by taxi so can be quite expensive but was worth it.

Sri is an amazing host. She cooked for us, took care of everything, showed us around her village and just wanted a genuine conversation. She helped us organise a tour too.

In the shower, the hot and cold water come from 2 separate taps. So one has to mix water in a bucket. For us it was not a big problem.

Sri is a very nice host! She has organised for us a cool trip to see turtles (I recommend!) and also other our activities in the village. She also helped with the transfer to her homestay and back. We had some special requests (like buying dragon fruits out of its season) and problems (like visiting emergency doctor) and she helped us with every issue! The nature there is beautiful, there are rice fields, palms plantations, dragon fruit plantations, bananas trees, etc. We asked her so many questions and she explained everything to us (she speaks very good English which is not usual there). The food, which she cooked, was delicious and every day something new and special, we even asked a few recipes. The room and the bathroom were very clean (one of the cleanest apartment in Indonesia, where we have stayed).

very nice and friendly host, Sri. This place is exceptionally nice if you want to get out of the busy big cities. it is pieceful and quiet\, with beautiful accomodations and in a beautiful green garden with a diversity of trees and plants. The food is exceptionally nice, by far the best we had in Java, (and we have been to many good restaurants!) it is homecooked and from local products (from the own garden). We were served a delicious diner with a variety of dishes. Remarkable also that this is probably one of the very few places in Java where you get coffee, a local variety, from beans picked from their own garden, and roasted at home. This is real and fresh coffee. Definately something you should experience once. The host, Sri also arranged transport from our hotel in Malang, a long trip but beautiful sceneries and you can stop on the way to visit a coffee or rubber plantation for example, as well as transport to the ferry to Bali, and the visit to the national park, the beach and the turtle conservation. A beautiful break from busy Java and we certainly recommend it to everyone visiitng Java.

Note that the village is quite remote, has no ATM or taxi’s, so getting around independently can be challenging. Sri generously offered her driver to get us to the river for an afternoon swim.

Sri is an honest and very welcoming host, who loves to share her way of life and will look after all your needs. It was a lovely experience to walk with her around her neighbourhood, see how people live and farm. Sri has two 4WD cars with English speaking drivers, who can take you along the bumpy ride to Sukamade beach for an overnight stay, to see the turtles lay eggs and to release baby turtles back into sea in the morning. What an experience! Rooms are simple but comfortable, with airco and clean bathroom. Home cooking is good with fresh ingredients from her garden.
