Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

IndiaThe rooms could be slightly cleaner, there was a lot of cigarette smell in the common areas, the rooms and corridors. I had to spray my room with lemongrass. The ac wasn’t working very well, and they could clean the rooms during the stay.
The staff was quite accommodating they let me check in at 7 am at a reasonable cost. I was pretty tired so I was okay to pay. They had a couch where I slept for a while because I reached at 4 am.

United KingdomThe hotel wasn't clean. There was mould and rust in many areas of the room. The Internet didn't work well at all in the room. The air conditioning also didn't work well. The local call to prayer is very loud. I imagine this is a great hostel for locals. However, for me, it didn't suit my needs.
The staff here were kind. Despite it being an Indonesian speaking hostel, they did well to help communicate with me. The bed is really comfortable and large too. The location is very nice for locals - near a school and market.

United StatesMostly what everyone else has mentioned with facilities, linens, and questionable cleanliness. What I did not appreciate was room 13 on the lower floor was right next to the guest lounge area and motorcycle parking area. The round-the-clock noise was ridiculous! I'm fortunate to not be buying glass panes to replace windows from all the banging I had to do to keep things quieted down!
One of the higher rated Malang places on Booking.com; I'd certainly hate to see the others! I didn't rebook after two nights and found a much better, cheaper place closer to the train station to stay 5 more nights. There are many not listed on Booking. I did appreciate there were several eateries, markets nearby in a calmer residential area here. Otherwise, Google still has this listed as what the sign says - Armyn Luxury Guesthouse. Maybe a long, long time ago...

IndiaThe room I was given on the ground floor smelled of cigarettes. They eventually changed the room, but not before acting as if its a new issue, when clearly the cigarette smell was all over the place, since everyone (including the staff) was smoking.
