Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaReliance on having to use whatsapp to figure out what was going on at the hotel - didn't know about many of the available activities until we were due to leave. Would prefer a compendium in the room or daily email. When on holidays I don't want to use my phone for everything.
Location, quietness, breakfast, buggy transport, staff, proximity to golf course, the amazing view.

SingaporeBeing a tropical place, mosquitoes are frequent visitors around the pool, but repellents help.
Banyan Tree review: Our family of 3 had a wonderful & relaxed stay at Banyan Tree. One can use the resort transport/cab at the ferry terminal upon arrival for a paid fee. The private pool villa which we stayed is high up the hill and so quiet and calm. Villa faces the sea and has an amazing view. Private pool, the other 2 pools & the entire resort are clean and well maintained. Guests can use the pool & sports facilities at the next-door Cassia Bintan & Angsana resort. All the staffs we came across at Banyan are lovely and always there to assist in need. The resort is huge & one can call for a buggy anytime of the day or night. The 3 restaurants - Treetops (indo), Saffron (thai) & The Cove (western European) are highly recommended and Saffron has amazing thai cuisine. Breakfast at Treetops is a huge spread with lots of western & dessert options as well. In-room dining service is super-fast. Special thanks to Sofyan, Kasir & a few others for the frequent buggy rides and being friendly with our young child. Highly recommend the place for a relaxing & stress-free holiday.

Singaporepls see above.
We had an exceptional family holiday at Banyan Tree Bintan. We hired two villas. The property despite being 30yrs old, has been very well maintained and immaculate. Having three hotels all under one management on the vast property is a superb idea - catering to different budgets and experiences. Our sea facing villas were amazing, the staff was friendly and promptly arranged for buggy to ferry us and room service was prompt. We particularly enjoyed the Saffron, exceptional Thai fare. Water sports arrangements were good, unfortunately we did not spot much marine life when we went snorkeling. The Aquatic Zumba was lot of fun, with people of all ages enjoying the foam water and music. The zumba instructor was very energetic. The Laguna golf course next door was great. Lady Caddies we had were friendly. Only down side is the villa toilet area did not have the wash basin in the same area, but required us to go to the next door washroom area. Breakfast buffet - Omlette counter could do with more staff to whip up eggs faster during busy breakfast time. Other than that, all very good service and experience. We had a very great stay.

NetherlandsOur stay at the Banyan Tree Resort on Bintan was truly one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The villa was absolutely stunning—spacious, beautifully designed, and complete with a private swimming pool that felt like our own little sanctuary. The resort is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, offering serene ocean views and lush greenery in every direction. Each of the restaurants we tried served delicious food, with a variety of options to please our taste buds. What really set the experience apart, though, was the staff. Everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay special. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. Highly recommended!

United KingdomA little difficult to just walk anywhere off site ; price of wine ( we knew was Muslim country but even so a bit expensive) ; the marble tiles around our stunning infinity view pool were very slippy even when mildly wet and one walked cautiously ; very much a fall hazard .
Beautiful setting with well separated villas some with own pool Such lovely staff In particular our lovely buggy drivers and the team who kept our two bedroom villa so carefully - including Rhamad and Razil ( maybe wrong spelling !) The helpful pool staff at the beach bar as well as all who delivered our food both in the restaurant and to the villa - so charming and interactive with our 5 year old . The surrounding wildlife and vegetation was very special . The beach is long and beautiful and seemed safe for swimming

New ZealandThe prepaid meal deal wasn't worth it, I would simply pay a la carte. The tipping situation was confusing. The resort needs a little 7/11-type shop or corner.
Property had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Access from Singapore was very easy and quick. Staff were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our 3 days. The birdlife was prolific.
