How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff were outstanding – Robert (who’s not the owner) and his team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, helped us organize trips at fair prices, and even provided free bikes. He was very respondent and always available. The location in the middle of the rice fields is beautiful, and the homemade food, while simple, was fresh and tasty with authentic Indonesian flavors.
The property felt older and less maintained than expected. Cleaning could have been better, the AC and TV remotes didn’t work properly, and the fridge in the room was very noisy at night. It can also be quite loud with several mosques nearby and a generator pumping water for the rice fields (when there is a lack of rain), which made it hard to relax by the pool. Also you need to take into account that farmers make wildfires and that the smoke can come to the homestay.
You have booked a room during the high season, a long holiday for locals and summer for Europeans. These are normal prices in the area. EAR PLUG PROVIDED AT EVERY ROOM FOR USE THE SENSITIVE PERSONS. You feel the noise of a refrigerator disturb you, why not turn it off? or use earplugs. The AC and TV remotes suddenly had battery problems, that is normal everywhere, and I replaced immediately. All peoples do Independence Day celebrations in August 16-18. Every mosque is praying for a better future, 1 day only and not more 08.00pm. You will find the same situation at Yogyakarta and all of Indonesia. 2 hours once a month on dry season the neighbour farmer use small pump generator for watering,. The building's architecture is old Javanese, use natural stones for bathroom and use recycled timber and used pottery roof, that are over 100 years old. However, the rooms inside are modern European in style. I am Robert, who served you during stay and explained the situation to you, who gave free service to transfer you to the next hotel, also owner of the building and facility, very sad because you did not give tolerance to the situation in your review.

Verified reviewBeautiful gardens , quiet and peaceful. The owner and his wife are lovely People. They grow a lot of fruit and vegetables and try to be as sustainable as possible. Extremely helpful as well. Thank you for showing me around your garden, picking and eating fruit and offering me cuttings of your plants to grow back home . That was very nice of you . This is a Great place to take some days out to just relax and to visit the temples, caves and much more .There is a restaurant on site and also nice restaurants and good amenities near by. Use grab and you can get to wherever you like I will see you one day again in the future .thank you
It can be noisy with prayers and farm animals very early mornings but ear plugs are provided . I am fine with this but some guests may not be so to future guests please remember you aren't in the main city, you are in a village.

Verified reviewGarden and the swimming pool view are beautiful!
Room was smelling a bit mushy, sometimes there was little water pressure in the bathroom/shower.
The room smells mushy because the air conditioning setting is too cool or the bathroom door is not closed. The pressure pump used for the water at the water tower to every room. Only need adjusted to get good pressure.

Verified reviewI really enjoyed my stay at Blue Garden Yogyakarta. The property is set in a beautiful garden with a large pool and offers a great view of the surrounding rice fields, which creates a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, always available to assist with any questions or needs. Their warm and welcoming attitude made the stay feel personal and comfortable. The location is quiet, perfect for relaxing, but still not too far from the city center—with a scooter, it only takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach the center area of Yogyakarta. My room was spacious, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Everything was clean and well maintained. The on-site restaurant serves good breakfast and dinner, with a decent selection of dishes at reasonable prices. The team also helped me organize a day tour of Yogyakarta’s main sights, including Borobudur, Prambanan, and Tamansari, which was well arranged and very enjoyable. All in all, Blue Garden is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a mix of nature, comfort, and good hospitality. I’d gladly come back!

Verified reviewThe setting
The bedding, linen and pillows as the quality wasn’t good.
The bedding, linen, and pillows use good quality 5 star hotel standard and all cover use 100% cotton. I really pay attention to that because it is the main thing. I had 30 years experience at 5 star hotels.

Verified reviewRobert was very helpful and super responsive! My room was comfortable. I enjoyed the peaceful location outside the city. You can order food by Grab so it’s not an issue to be outside the city center. The driver who picked me up from the airport and took me around to the temples was really great!
It was a little rough around the edges. I’m not sure if this was because I was the only guest at the time, but the pool area wasn’t very inviting (lounge chairs and cushions weren’t set up; no umbrellas). It wasn’t really like the pictures in that regard, which made it look like a nice place to relax. Again maybe this was just because I was the only person at the property at the time and they were short staffed for the holiday, but I was a paying guest all the same… For the price I have stayed in more luxurious places in other places in Indonesia so this hotel was a little disappointing honestly. Overall it was fine but I had expected better.
Hi Kimberly, You are staying during Eid holiday. During this period the price is very high because all companies have to pay 100% more salary for 1 month to employees. During this period is 12 days long holiday and the demand is very high for local family. If use normal price the villas will full with family and noise untill midnight. That make foreign guests not comfort. You are not alone, 4 from 8 rooms have guests. During your stay, you knew the situation, heavy rain and strong wind for 4 nights, suddenly come and stopped and come again. That is why all the timber furniture pool chair & bed, mattresses, are covered with plastic. I get complain also if mattresses and pillow full by water. If guests come to swim our staff will immediately remove the cover. Our staff did not see you coming to swim. The staff enough to serve guests, your order food/drink serve to your room on time, house keeping do on time and make room always clean. The pool and garden cleaning every day. Restaurant open till 8.00pm. Thank You

Verified reviewRelaxing garden and swimming pool. Beautiful sunsets. The room is nicely decorated and the bathroom is really spacious. Very friendly staff. We could use a free late check-out on our last day because we were sick. Robert was very helpful and checking in the days before how we were doing.
The bed was a little too soft for our liking and we missed some parasols to create shade for the beds at the swimming pool. But still a nice place to relax!

The property was quite a distance to the centre of town and airport. My taxi driver was excellent however this added to costs for a solo traveller.

Breakfast options that was offered was an excellent idea. I gotta try traditional Javanese style breakfast, French and English style breakfast, and even ordered other menus that’s not on the book. Pak Robert and the staffs were very helpful. He knows the city extremely well and has list of places he recommended and knows how to get me there.

Verified reviewThe staff were lovely. The couple who run it were incredibly helpful. They helped with organising taxis and advising on trips. The gardens were clean and tidy and there was a nice pool. Breakfasts choices were limited but there was always plenty of it.
Our room needed a bit of tlc. The television wasn't working. I had to request an extension lead so that we could plug in one of the bedside lights (the owner promptly found one for us). The room was ready for a bit of a refurbishment.
