How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel is very basic and would need some upgrade, especially in the toilet area. Do not expect big luxuries, but if you are there for a Bromo volcano tour, is more than enough for a short night sleep. The hotel arranged our tour to the volcano (and also offered a tour for Ijen volcano). The breakfast is nice, I would only suggest changing the coffee :)

Verified reviewWe arrived quite late and the check in still went smooth. We also booked the transfer as well as the Ijen tour with the accommodation. Bed is quite big and comfortable and breakfast was a nice touch.
The transfer from Probolinggo was quite a bit more pricy than if you organise a taxi in the city upon arrival. As we were unsure about the situation before, we preferred the safe option. We also knew about the price beforehand already. It was also a bit weird that we had to pay an additional fee during the transfer but other guests that took the same transport did not have to do that.

Verified reviewReally close to the entrance of the park for Bromo if you want to do it on your own is ideal
The toilet could use some renovation, breakfast could be a bit better but if u are hungry there are nice places at the village where to eat

Verified reviewThe only good thing about this place is the location
The room is creepy but it can be ok for one night - but the main problem is that there was no one to greet us when we arrived, and the next morning there was also no one to serve us breakfast (even though it was included in the price), so we did not have one. I texted them to ask if it was ok to have breakfast at 10h30, they said ok but then no one ever came.

Verified reviewClose to the Bromo hike
Only cold water, apartment is cold as well because outside is cold and there is no heating. Breakfast was promised but it’s bad- 2 pieces of toasted bread with 1 fried egg and some potatoes warmed in oil. Don’t take the pick up service they offer, the drivers at the station in Probolinggo or Gojek will offer you better prices. (50-70k IDR cheaper)

Verified reviewSimple accommodation, with a comfortable bed and warm water. The B&B is right off the main road, so walking distance to restaurants. The owner organised the sunrise tour for us which went smoothly!
Unpleasant smell coming from the sink and bathroom as a whole could use some renewals. But all good for 1 night.

Nobody at reception. Very basic amenities in room. Only one plug

Verified reviewThe manager was very helpful and assisted with organising bikes for going to see the sunrise and for transport to and from the B&B. It was also inexpensive and located close to warungs and shops. Breakfast was basic and served on the patio.
We booked 4 rooms and one smelt of sewerage - the one on the right-hand side of the building. While it was not an issue for us, there are very limited facilities for hanging out other than your room.

Verified reviewThe room was very basic but good and comfortable for 1 night. The shower worked well and we even had hot water. The staff (Sunny) was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also good for the price and the location is central.
The bathroom needs some renovation and the floor is always flooded because the water from the sink flows on the bathroom floor. We didn't have a mirror in the room.

Verified reviewI recommend 100%, the staff are very kind, the rooms are good, just little bit cold during the night but I think it’s like that everywhere because you are at 2200m altitude !
Prices are little bit expensive when you are a solo traveller !

Verified reviewThis is a modest place to stay - we knew that ahead of time - but it did not disappoint. Rooms were generally clean and the bedding was good for the cool nights up at Bromo. Shower was hot - though other family members in other rooms had to alert staff to make it happen. Staff were accommodating. The small breakfast of a fried egg sandwich with a few fries was welcome.
As someone from Europe, I don't really like finding a wet toilet seat upon arrival, but I learned that you see that sometimes in Indonesia.

Verified reviewThis location was very good and for a very fair price. Additionally, the staff were really friendly and helpful, giving us the best tips for how to travel around Bromo and connect to the surrounding areas.
The beds were fine. However, the bathroom was subpar, with the shower water cutting out within 3 minutes of use and never offered warm water. Additionally, the room was damp with limited plug sockets.

Rooms were damp with moisture on the ceiling and quite a bad smell in the room coming from the bathroom.
