Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SlovakiaAt first I was bothered by the power outages throughout the island - there was no signal/wifi, but it was a great digital detox for adults and children
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks here. The girls at the accommodation took care of us very well and always with a smile. (Thank you girls for your care) The rooms were clean, clean bed linen, towels and replenished toiletries. Breakfast was delicious - it was a great experience for us to taste local food. Every morning in front of the accommodation you can see a sea turtle eating sea grass for breakfast. A little further away is a beautiful coral reef with lots of colorful fish and large turtles. Although there are boats here, everyone is considerate of swimmers in the water. In the evening you can watch a beautiful sunset from the water. The accommodation can arrange motorbike rental, trips, diving, snorkeling equipment, or laundry. The food and fresh juices were always great, definitely try them. It was calming to sit on the terrace and watch the sea, I loved it. There are many mini-markets with miscellaneous goods or fresh vegetables and fruits nearby. The people on the island are very friendly and polite.

AustraliaThe food was average and the motorbike we rented had flat tyres but otherwise the stay was great
The accommodation is great - really beautiful wooden buildings right on the beach. The room was a good size. The outdoor area is beautiful to sit out and look over the ocean. The decor is really lovely as well. The staff are friendly. I would recommend this place to others

United StatesWe loved our stay at Bunaken 18! We took a quick weekend trip from Manado, and found the location is extremely convenient—it was near where the public boat from Manado dropped us off, making it easy to get to on foot. It is also so nice being right on the beach — the boat pulled right up to the property to pick us up for snorkeling. This resort just opened in May, and it is managed by the lovely Nita. She is extremely friendly and service-oriented, happily helping us organize a fabulous snorkeling trip, as well as a private taxi back to Bahowo. Our room was clean and comfortable (with AC😅), there were handy foot sprays right outside each room, and the handheld shower in the bathroom had great water pressure and a soothing spray. The breakfasts (cooked by Nita) are huge and delicious, and their slushy fruit juices, which Nita greeted us with the moment we arrived, are yummy and refreshing! You can also order lunch and dinner for an added fee. The resort is small, just 5 guest rooms, so we felt personally catered to. The only warning I’ll give travelers to Bunaken Island in general (NOT at all the resort’s fault!) is that WiFi AND 4G can be spotty depending on the weather.

SingaporeI stayed at Bunaken 18 Dive Resort and Cafe from 16 to 21 September, and it was an incredible experience! Oscar, the owner, provided fantastic service, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The location of the resort is perfect, and the breakfast was generous and delicious. The rooms are clean, new, and comfortable, making it a relaxing place to stay after a day of diving. Highly recommend this resort for anyone visiting Bunaken!

AustriaAbsolutely not recommended to stay here. First of all, don't be fooled, it's not a diving resort at all. While the superior room has a nice view and an AC, they offer nothing to justify the price. Breakfast was the worst we had in 6 weeks of travelling Indonesia, we ended up buying our own fruit in the small stall right across the place.. we constantly had to follow up and toilet paper and the room was only cleaned once in the 6 days we stayed there. Locals will tell you it's way overpriced and actually laugh at you when you tell them you stay there. Plenty of other options to stay on the island

San MarinoWhat you see is not what you get. You think you will be overlooking the sea from the upper condo deck siping cold beer in reality everybody will be looking at you in your room on the ground communal reception area. There is no full board included in the room price, as with other resorts for the same price, but don't worry you can order lunch and dinner for triple the price. The breakfast is fine though. Dive resort? Yes they can organize diving for sure $$$, no diving on site. And last most crazy thing, you think you will sleep well, nope the full family of mice or rats lives literally on your roof (very near the kitchen) and you can hear them all day and specially night when they are walking under rustic roof. Get a cat please. This part of the building is not new just renewed, so again what you see is not what you get. And if this is not enough some noisy chinese tourist from the upper deck will accompany you. While half of the village will be cleaning daily catch in front of your door in the morning. Experience of your lifetime ... yes it is.
Location is fine, don't go anywhere else then the village, because there is nothing elsewhere and even Bunaken is out of tourist favor, but that does not affect the prices, who ever comes it is there to be scamed by locals and expats owning the resorts, which are literally filing apart but still would like to charge five stars for past glory. Alternative is stay in Manado and take a day trip to snorkel or dive it will cost the same.

SingaporeSuggestions: Probably hooks or (retractable) clothes line to hang wet clothes.
Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They’re very attentive to ensure your stay is a memorable and pleasant one. The resort is right on the beach. So if you book snorkelling trips through the resort, you can easily access to the boat as it will be parked in front of the resort. I enjoyed the beautiful view from the dining area. You can watch sunset from the resort. The resort is also near the border between the Muslim and Christian kampung. There is nearby ATM which I never tried. There are also nearby local shophouses and dive shops. You can walk to the main jetty. The locals are friendly and warm so don’t forget to put up your smiley face and say Hi!. The resort serve delicious local food which you can order for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is generous so if you can’t finish, let the workers know that you want less servings so you won’t waste the food. Or you can also pack to bring along for snorkeling trips. Tips for travellers who are first time coming here: As it is on an island, the electricity works on generator. Standby a torch or a headlight in case the electricity turned off suddenly at night. From my experience, the electricity trip normally took about 5 to 15 minutes. I stayed in the lower floor. The lights in the room were dim and my eyesight was not so good. Thankfully I brought my headlight. Like most island resorts, there is no tv. So download your favourite movies beforehand so you can play it anytime. There is wifi but the speed is unpredictable.

FranceNothing. Everything was perfect, as our final step before flying back.
This new resort/cafe is very conveniently located at the centre of the village. The three rooms at the first floor are very confortable, the design is innovative and the various woods selected for the rooms are remarkable. The food is 100% local largely above the average. HAO Yun and his staff are very kind and helpful. The snorkelling directly in front of the rooms is just amazing - THE Bunaken snorkelling spot.
