Breakfast is very Basic. For a powder Cappuccino you pay extra. In the Restaurant Fish and everything with Avocado was not available., so I went to another Hotel to grap some Food. The room was not cleaned, which was probably my fault because I did not leave the key at the reception. The Transport to the Harbour was quite chaotic. Everyone was telling me a different time, when the boat would be leaving, none of the times was correct. Then I was taken with my two sons by motorbike to the port. When two motorbikes had arrived, I was told that a third one is coming in two or three minutes. Therefore, I wanted to wait until the other one arrived and then go with my sons together, not leave them alone with the luggage at the port. It turned out, that a third motorbike was not supposed to come, and I was handled in a very unpleasant way, saying that we are a problematic guests. I told the woman that we would find a solution for everything, but if I am given constantly the wrong information, it’s hard to deal with it. I was already a little bit upset, because the staff had taken my personal belongings and wanted to bring it by motorbike to the harbor to leave it there without giving me any notice. So all in all the hotel is quite nice, also the location at the pool and especially the manager, tries to find solutions for problems. Altogether I would recommend the hotel. But the treatment in the end wasn’t very nice.

The dining area is pretty sunny and hot at breakfast time, around 8am. The resort should install an awning or roll-down blinds for some shade. Our bathroom was very clean, however there was a bit of sewage smell, not sure why. There was also no hand soap on the sink. The staff promptly passed me a bottle the next day after I requested for it. The small window above the balcony door needs a curtain. The bright, morning sun streamed in through that window and woke us up!

Breakfast was very nice. We loved the Spanish omelette, banana pancake and assorted fruits. Because I booked a room with 2 double beds (for 4 pax) even though there were only 2 of us (I didn’t want to share a bed with my son), the staff kindly informed me that we were entitled to 4 breakfasts per day. So we really stuffed ourselves at breakfast! Our room was spacious and very clean. Beds and pillows were comfy. Nights were fairly cool (it was early July), so we didn’t mind that there was no air-con. We were fine with a fan. We closed the windows around 5pm and only opened them in the morning, thus we had no problems with mosquitoes. However, it would be good if the resort could install mosquito netting. There was no TV but we didn’t miss it. The towel rack on the big balcony was very useful as I hand-washed a few clothes.

Lovely serene location just down the hill from the more built up area, but also close to a lovely walk past beautiful sights in the other direction. Staff were fantastic and really helpful. Food was excellent, and the rooms really are spacious and spotless.

Juma cottages is a lovely place, a great pool with a wonderful view, delicious food and great staff. We, especially our kids, loved this place so much that we stayed the whole time only in the hotel... we loved it.

Great air and relaxing location on the lake. Compared to other properties it was very well kept and staff helpful and accommodating. The rooms were very well built, spacious and excellent baths.

Hard to say. Juma Cottages is pretty ideal--especially for the price point. Perhaps a light over the bathroom sink would help a bit. And sometimes I'd like to have a small frig in the room to keep cold cokes that I might want to buy at the local grocery shop. But these are very minor things. Jima cottages does a great job, so it's very hard to find anything that needs improvement.

We love this hotel. Unlike many older hotels at high altitude in Indonesia, this one is very clean and fresh, with no mold, with young, energetic staff who are out to please, surprisingly good breakfasts and dinners, refreshing hot water in the showers, stunning views and relaxation spots under pavilions by the serene Lake Toba. This is probably the best place we've ever found to de-stress, chill and renew one's self after busy seasons of work. The owners are very friendly and responsive. When we stayed a year ago we suggested they provide kayaks for guests in the future, and they complied with our suggestion, getting a tandem, a single and a paddle board. They also added a beautiful infinity pool by the lakefront with a kiddie pool.

Toilets could use some more toiletries; badly was and shampoo were more water than anything. Location is a bit away from the main tuk tuk town so you need to walk a bit (not complaining as it was just a 15min walk)

Beautiful views just next to the lake and amazing gardens. Staff was friendly and readily available to help with any or everything. Helped us get a cab last minute to and from the airport KNO and also help us book the excursions. Breakfast was good and generous quantity. Rooms were nearly renovated so we’re very clean and did not smell bad as you would expect from an island room

You need to go elsewhere to find someone to help with booking transport around Lake Toba and to leave the island. If you're a foreigner, they will charge ridulous prices for tours around the island and overcharge you for the ferry to Parapat.

The staff that worked there are lovely. The room was lovely and clean, and it had great views. Really lovely location for a relaxing holiday, but it's a little far from anything else if you don't have transport.

I stayed at Juma Cottages by Lake Toba, and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff were all incredibly humble, welcoming, and accommodating, but Intan, the receptionist, truly stood out. She is such a warm and friendly person, always going the extra mile to ensure guests are comfortable. Intan was not only knowledgeable about the local area but also gave us excellent recommendations for things to do. One thing that really impressed me was her attention to detail—Juma Cottages doesn’t have universal charging sockets, but Intan personally went out of her way to purchase converters for guests. She lent them to us, which made our stay much more convenient. That’s the kind of service that made our time there so special. The cottages themselves are set in a stunning, scenic location, with a beautiful pool right next to Lake Toba. It’s so peaceful, with the soothing sound of birds chirping during the day. Honestly, it was hard to leave the cottage because it felt so tranquil and relaxing. The food at the cottage was delicious and reasonably priced, which was a nice bonus. As a small precaution, I’d recommend carrying mosquito repellent. While I personally didn’t experience many issues with mosquitoes during my stay, there were a few around, so it’s better to be prepared. Overall, Juma Cottages provided a truly memorable stay, and Intan’s exceptional service made it even better. Her warmth, helpfulness, and care for the guests really set the place apart. I highly recommend staying here!

Very nice and clean environment. The view from the room is spectacular. It is right in front of lake toba and u can see the ferry crossing the lake from your room. The room is so spacious and extremely clean. The toilet is so so so clean. The garden is very well kept. It is worth the money you spent.

Location was ok but a bit of a walk from the main areas. No mosquito net on the bed so ended up disturbed in sleep, seems common on the island.

Loved the bed and room. Bed was super comfy and room was very clean and new. Beautiful view of the Lake from the room too! Most of the staff were helpful, the owner was really lovely.

Nothing!

Probably the best place to stay on Lake Toba. The property is clean and new and run by a lovely local family who arranged scooters for us. There is a water sport centre just on the lake and we had a great time on the jet skis and banana boat. The ferry drops you directly at the property too! The family room was spacious and great value for money.
