How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat stay. Clean, comfy bed, good location
A little from outside the room. There were small children crying and screaming all day and into the evening.

Verified reviewThe owner, Kadet, is an incredible person, very caring, attentive to details and worried about their guests well-being. The rooms have a front porch that faces a peaceful lovely garden full of messages and with the best vibe. The place is quiet, with birds singing in the morning and at the same time it’s right behind the a main street full of restaurants, drugstore and attractions. Breakfast is very healthy and delicious and the room offers mineral water (natural and hot) and coffee and tea are available at all times. I must add that when I felt sick one day during my stay Kadet gave me all the assistance and attention, making me feel very safe. For lonely travelers like myself this is priceless.

Verified reviewPeaceful and authentic stay in the Ubud center We had a wonderful stay thanks to Riki’s and Kadek’s warm hospitality. The room was spotless, with a comfortable king-sized bed, great A/C, and a lovely terrace overlooking the garden. We appreciated the little touches like fresh fruit and biscuits in the mornings, plus the fridge, safe, and unlimited water refills. The location is perfect—right in the center of Ubud for walking to most places, yet on the edge of town to avoid heavy traffic when leaving by car. The guesthouse also offers a true Balinese atmosphere, with its temple, garden, and daily offerings, while still giving us plenty of privacy. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewI had a fantastic stay at Krisda Guest House—it was everything I needed and more. The host, her son, and the whole family were absolutely lovely—friendly, genuine, and always happy to help. They answered all my questions and regularly stopped for a chat, which made me feel very welcome. Nothing was ever a problem, and they even brought me some snacks and a fresh coconut—a really thoughtful gesture. The room was spacious and included a well-equipped kitchen with everything I needed, including tea and coffee. There was also a large water tank for drinking water, which they refilled twice during my stay. I really appreciated this—not only was it convenient, but it was also much more environmentally friendly than using plastic bottles. Outside, there was a large porch with a sofa, chairs, and a table where I could sit, work, and enjoy views of the beautiful garden. The location was ideal. Although the guest house is quiet and peaceful, set in a lovely garden, it's just steps away from the main street of Ubud. Shops, restaurants, and everything else you might need are all within walking distance. It’s also very close to several beautiful nature walking trails, so if you enjoy walking or hiking, the location is perfect. If you're looking for a peaceful stay in the heart of Ubud, hosted by a kind local family, this is the place for you. Five stars—I’ll definitely be back.

Verified reviewThe owners (mother and son) are both soooooo lovely, always smiling (bright future in front of you Ricky!) The room and bed are spacious and clean, bed is comfortable. There is a big fridge and a kettle/ tea cups in the room (highly appreciated!), airco works great. Location is very good (entrance from main road but property tucked away from the noise of the cars and scooters). Thick walls so you can't hear your neighbours (but you should always have your earplugs on you when travelling to Bali, just in case it..rains heavily at night, for example).

The room was not clean and the bathroom smelled bad.
Dear Mr. Prashanth, I am very surprised that you gave us such a poor review. I personally made sure your room was clean before you checked in, and yet you gave us a 2.5 out of 10 for cleanliness. I think this is quite unfair. If you truly felt the room was so bad, why did you ask to extend your stay by one night????? Our guesthouse policy allows guests to reduce their stay, with no penalty, if they are not happy with the room. Given the low score for cleanliness, I am not surprised that you ranked us poorly on the other score parameters as well Here we are only fighting on the cleanliness score. We show how that is unfair, and not a valid score. Once we have shown that this score is not valid, that implies that all the other scores are not valid either. We don't need to do more. Best regards, Kadek Armini

Verified reviewThe owner and their family were truly wonderful people. Staying here gives you peace of mind when visiting Ubud. I'm really glad I was able to spend time here before returning home. Although it's close to the center, it's very quiet and peaceful. I especially loved the relaxing time spent on the terrace, with the table and sofa. When I come to Ubud again, I definitely want to stay here.

Verified reviewIf I could give this 1000+, I would! Kadek (added a lovely photo of her) and her family are the sweetest. Everything was fantastic, their place is like a home away from home- not just because their house is very lovely and clean, but because they really welcome you in their family. She was happy to share their every day life practices and the importance of them. I'm excited to come back here and share this beautiful family with any friends of mine coming to Ubud!

Verified reviewThe family is incredibly kind and accommodating. The room is spacious and has a water dispenser so you don't have to use bottles.
At first I was put off by the stair case from the street. However, they have a back door. If you have a lot of bags or don't want to walk the stairs, you can use the back door which takes you directly into the guest house area. Bali is all steep roads and stairs and so the back door to this guest house is a great thing.

Verified reviewThe location is great
The room, bed and bathroom smelt so musty. The bedding is brown and purple which seems suspicious and like it is to hide stains. There is only a bedcover provided with no top sheet, I very much doubt the bedcovers are cleaned in between each guest. I had to ask for a sheet and then also asked for the bed to be changed after sleeping there for one night and despite explaining the hygiene aspect of there being no sheet it was made the same and still smelt. On the first night I had to get out of bed at nearly midnight to tell the owner’s son and his friend to stop talking and laughing. They knew I was trying to sleep about ten metres away and it was so inconsiderate. There is no fridge in the room but you can use an absolutely disgusting communal fridge behind the reception, the door doesn’t even close properly. I did not feel at all comfortable as a solo traveller and left the next afternoon losing a night’s money but I just wanted out of the bad atmosphere the place has. There are much better places to stay for cheaper (look at the great place directly across the road). This homestay needs a good clean and to look after their guests better. I was very glad I chose to leave early and found much better cleaner and safer accommodation nearby.
Dear Madeleine, Warmest greetings from Krisda Ubud Guest House. I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience staying with us. Most of our guests give us a 9 or 10 rating, so we take your low rating seriously. After following up with my son, I confirmed that he did provide you with a top sheet as you had requested on the first night. And contrary to your ‘guess’, the bed covers are cleaned between guests. I am also sorry that you did not like the bed linen color scheme; it is a design choice, and definitely not some easy way to hide a lack of cleanliness. To accommodate you, we did change your complete bedding the next day, (sheet, top sheet, pillowcases and bed cover). These items were fresh from the laundry. You are correct, it was inconsiderate of my son to chat loudly after 10 pm, and I have reprimanded him for his lapse in judgment. This loss of sleep may have a significant bearing on your perception of the pride and care we take in maintaining our guest house. Client satisfaction is very important to us, so if you text me, I will happily refund your money for the two nights you have paid. You may be interested to know that we are purchasing small fridges for each room, as our funds permit. Best Regards, Kadek Armini Manager
