Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyEvery morning at 5 am the church service is broadcast with speakers …..
It’s a traditional Sumba house, well designed. And home-baked bread! Amazing!

IndonesiaThe location is good for those who are surfing at Watu Bela beach (patiala bawa) at the south of west Sumba as not many accommodation nearby. The room is big enough to accommodate 2-3 guests actually with air condition. The breakfast is freshly cooked either bread + eggs or rice ++.

SpainIt was cold in the evening and mornings and no blankets available.. But actually the worst thing is the church across the street which is going to wake you up every morning at 5am with super loud music and prayers for 40 min. After that yiu don’t feel like sleeping anymore. As she is not informing the guest I will do it through here.
The place is ok. The host is nice and she tries to keep it clean and tidy. Breakfast was good.

DenmarkAs other places in Sumba there’s not really any good wifi, but after we ran out of data she was kind enough to make a hotspot. You can order food in the house but otherwise you’ll need a scooter to go to the one restaurant near by.
Nailya was a perfect host!! She was kind and helpful, we had some great talks with her, she gave us recommendations for places to go to. And the food she makes is delicious!! She helped us rent a scooter as well and it’s very close to the beautiful Pantai Watu Bella Beach. This was definitely the best homestay we have tried as it couldn’t be more authentic and we felt a bit like a part of the family. We loved it.

United Stateshot water in shower didn't last long, no toiletries, slightly dusty, church across street was LOUD at 5 AM every day, no wifi (but there is a Telkomsel signal only),
Sumba style house and nice staff, closer to beach than Waikabubak is... cheaper than all places in Kerewe. They did have basic lunch and dinner available too for fair price. Quiet at night, there was a signal for data, but no wifi.

GermanyNothing to complain about.
It felt like being at home at Nailya’s place. My bedroom was really cozy and spacious and the food was delicious. The house has a really good location if you want to visit some nice beaches; traditional villages and waterfalls. The staff was also really friendly.

United KingdomThere is a noisy church nearby which can be a bit annoying in the morning
The room was clean and comfortable. The food was really great, especially the home made bread in the mornings. Nailya (the owner) is very knowledgeable about the island and had lots of great ideas for things to do. We rented a motorbike from them and used it to explore the area.

GermanyGreat location, excellent value for money, with a family-like atmosphere and valuable tips! We initially booked for only one night but ended up extending our stay by 2 nights. If the room hadn't been already booked, we probably would have stayed longer. It's important to note that there aren't many (affordable) accommodations on Sumba, and the island is still quite "rudimentary" in general. However, Lambo Homestay is a fantastic option if you want to visit the beautiful beaches in the south. It's only about a 15-minute scooter ride away, and they also provide great recommendations, such as the best sunset spots and places for horseback riding. The room is stylishly decorated, the beds are comfortable, and the AC is wonderfully quiet. Yes, you can hear the morning prayers at 5 am, but compromises have to be made on this island. The food is delicious and highly recommended! Additionally, I must mention that one of us had a high fever one evening, and we were genuinely cared for and supported in an incredibly warm and compassionate manner!

ItalyI choose this place because it was displayed as somewhere where I could rent a scooter. the thing is, renting a scooter happened by chance. they have no rentals, they just call neighbours to check what’s available. if you don’t have certainty it should be outlined. room was alright, net provided, but windows were not entirely close, that meant I had to avoid switching on the light in dark times (at 6 pm) to avoid to get infested by mosquitoes, that was uncomfortable.. as mentioned by the structure, one shared bathroom for the all house, poor maintenance with water leaking everywhere, scarce hygienic condition. to be honest, I would not recommend this, I payed 33 euros per night, I could have had a decent room anywhere in Europe with a private bathroom for the same price. I found better places (in terms of value for money elsewhere in sumba). on top, a church right in front of our house would play music very out loud for 40 minutes every morning.
the owner is super helpful, help me out in every possible way
