Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe only small thing was that the pool is open until 8pm but the staff packed up around us at sundown (about 6pm) which felt a bit awkward as we tried to relax and swim.
This was our second stay at the Maya and we love staying there. The staff are wonderful and they were all particularly helpful when one of our children wasn’t feeling well. The reception arranged a nurse to come and check him and organise the correct medication, then later that day we received a call to check on him and the offer of soup and other food to be brought to our room. They really looked after us well.

BelgiumWe had a room for 4 people with two double beds, but the beds were a bit small for two adults. We slept with one child and one adult per bed, but still it felt quite small and the adults did not sleep too well. The kids club had some nice activities, but catered mostly to very small kids under the age of 6. Our 8 and 9 year olds preferred to stay with us.
Big resort with several swimming pools. Great location. Very clean. The breakfast buffet was amazing with lots of choice of food and drinks. The tea time was also a highlight in our day. Fun activities for little kids. My children did the private cooking class which they loved! Free yoga classes for adults were fantastic, as was the fitness centre. We did not use the spa, but it looked amazing too.

AustraliaNot an issue for me but may be for some-the lagoon pool in August doesn’t get much sun. If you want to sun-bake the beachside pool is better.
Lots of pool options (especially if you book a lagoon pool room), many restaurants in the resort and nearby to eat at (including a fantastic Japanese at the street end of the resort). The brilliant virtual butler team were a huge help to us e.g. obtaining a boot to immobilise my foot (small bone broken during my travels) and having it delivered. Especially Yuni, I Gede and I Made). The resort is generally very accessible, apart from the spa which has a long staircase to access the treatment rooms. I broke a bone in my foot while travelling and was overjoyed to be loaned a wheelchair which was heaven for me after getting around on crutches.

AustraliaValue for money No child friendly pool Room service at a strange time
The location was amazing, massage and spa great, pools could be better and rooms nice but could be better. Staff were good, but having housekeeping come around between 8.30 and 9 am every morning wasn't great, considering we were always getting ready for heading out. For $672 per night, I did expect more. We stayed at another lower star hotel in Nusa Dua just before heading to Sanur, and the service and hotel were better. The hotel I felt is not catered well for adults only or families with kids, specifically in the pool area. There should be separate pools. We had our 6 year old some, and there wasn't really any chance to play in the pool with no inflatable rings allowed, I feel this could be fixed by separate pools. There were 2 other pools for specific rooms, but in 4 days, they never seemed to anyone in them, which seemed such a waste. Great location on the beach and staff okay and friendly but seemed very stressed in the restaurant at breakfast time. Balcony large day bed only. It just didn't have the resort feel we had at the nusa dua hotel we stayed at previously, and if it had been the same price, I would have rated it 5 stars. The room had the best and largest bathroom I've ever seen, and the spa staff and facilities, including massage, were 5 stars.

AustraliaWe were in a lagoon pool room. We booked this room thinking it would be private and tranquil more for couples quiet time. We had a very noisy family next door playing right outside our verandah and therefore never used our day bed or the pool. I think the hotel should consider if these rooms should be for families or couples only.
The resort was excellent and in a great spot in Sanur with easy access to cafes, walks etc. loved the Sanur boardwalk. Staff were great and very helpful. Entertainment in the evenings was also very good. I would recommend this property to others.
