Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe only negative thing I may have is that the room had 2 king single beds pushed together to make a king size bed which is fine, however it was still made with king single sheets overlapping each other so if you are a couple that tends to sleep close to each other the sheets tend to split and then have no sheets left on in the night.
The view from the dining room and the villa was unbelievable! The location is a little tricky to get to but it is well worth it! The restaurant was also fantastic

AustraliaBeds a little hard and musty smelling rooms, staff were amazing, locations great, great pools, great menu, close enough to Ubud centre without the noise and hustle !
The room smelled a bit mouldy, but maybe that’s because of the muggy weather??

FranceWe stayed on the old building. The room was spacious. The old building has its own pool, it's really cute, just need to be a bit maintained (they put more efforts on the pool over the rice field). Staff is friendly like in all Bali.

United KingdomThe staff were not as friendly as we’d previously experienced, the property does not look like the pictures. It’s much more run down. I would not recommend the suites they’re dingy, damp and dark. This property is a 15 minute drive to Ubud Centre / Palace / Market
Breakfast / lots of options and fresh organic food! The room has bathroom amenities.

United KingdomGreat room, we had never stayed in a room like it before. The view from our room was amazing. The food was great for breakfast and lunch. We wish we could have stayed an extra night. The staff were super friendly which made our stay extra special. Also, thank you to the staff who helped me retrieve my phone from my airport transfer, it was greatly appreciated as they were calm and collected and helping me in the best way they could.

AustraliaThe breakfast menu / selection was very fiddly and we had to pay for a cup of tea if we had the fruit platter. The food itself though was great. The lighting in the room was extremely dark so made it hard to read at night.
Lovely hotel and view; very friendly staff. We loved the private pool that we had with our room.

United StatesThe single thing that was below my expectations was the rooms that weren’t villas were on the backside of the property and didn’t have much natural light or a view.
Our stay at Menzel Ubud was exceptional. I think the value for the price was spot on with the quality of facilities on the property and the amenities. We enjoyed the included breakfast every morning which had lots of great options, thought the welcome snack was super nice, and loved the ambiance of the property as well as the friendliness of the staff. Menzel is located a little bit out of the central market area of Ubud so it was really quiet but still close enough to hop on a scooter to get to all of the action.

United KingdomLocation was not great with it being very difficult to walk to any restaurants and a 15 mins taxi was required to get to anywhere . Hotel is down the bottom of a very narrow road which our taxi couldn't access so we had to walk the last 5 minutes or so. Hair dryer in the room was poor and very old considering how nice a hotel it was. Our private pool area was not in the sun so pool was freezing. Lots of ants everywhere. However we still loved it and it's a lovely setting over rice fields with traditional architecture.
Lovely hotel and our room was great with private pool which was very private and not overlooked by any other rooms. Staff were fantastic and food was great. Loved the BBQ nights with live music although they were a tad expensive.

AustraliaWe would have preferred a separate shower & quieter room. But this did not take away from our satisfaction & enjoyment at Menzel.
This is a very picturesque hotel, where the gardens & spaces are maintained beautifully & the staff in all departments are wonderful. The food, drinks, entertainment & activities on offer are great.

Breakfast was ok. Tend to over fry in oil everything and the eggs never cooked properly. Wasps everywhere so was annoying after few days. Hotel stunning setting. Staff nice. 👍

Russiathere was miss understanding between booking and the hotel. I have booked 1 room for 3 persons. Booking confirmation was for 3 persons, but when we arrived to the hotel we were surprised to see only 1 bad in the room. Meanwhile They include breakfast for 3 persons. Really?! You know that we are 3, however prepaid only 1 bad? is it normal to sleep 3 persons in one bad?! To have additional bad we were charged again.
Service was great, we were happy to have free massage after long flight. Masters were really good!

IndiaInitially we saw the general pictures on booking .com and booked a standard room . The standard rooms are in a different wing and very basic . Thankfully villas were available and they upgraded us ( with a fee of course ) but if ur looking a nice room - book the deluxe rooms or the villas .
The property is at a quiet yet central location. The food is outstanding. The staff was so polite and helpful .
