How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing but be aware that tropical conditions are hard on buildings so there is some wear in places. Nothing that impacted the enjoyment of my stay. Also note 5hat Makassar is a busy, noisy city. The Mercure can't avoid that!

The hotel is clean but it is not entirely clean. You can see that there are a few spots and corners in the toilet that were not thoroughly scrubbed. The shower area has a musty smell. May be due to the ventilation. The cover of the jug of water was not very clean also. It is not a big hotel but it will take them quite some time to take action. We had to call them a couple of times to unlock our connecting room door and to lend us the iron. The breakfast was mostly cold. Cold fried noodles. Cold fried rice. Cold pasta carbonara. Even when I came down around 7am, a lot of food was already not hot. Some of the watermelon was nt very fresh. I am not a picky eater but most of the food did not taste that nice at all. No fridge in the room

Verified reviewGreat hotel design and rooms layout, probably one of the nicer hotels in Makassar based on visit so far. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options for local and international food too. The staff was polite and professional.
There was a lot of mold in the corridors which made going in and out of the room an unpleasant experience. The corridor stank of mold and made us cough. The floor of the room had a lot of hair and dust, like it was not cleaned properly. The bidet fitting was grimy and rusty. Upon check in, there was insufficient toiletries nor were there bath towels, which we had to request.

Our bedding was filthy! The sheets and duvet cover had clearly been slept in many times before. it was very upsetting. I was also bitten all over my ankles by bed bugs. We asked for the bed sheets to be changed, but the duvet cover was not changed. We had travelled over 17 hours for this stay - extremely dissatisfied.
