Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UzbekistanChristine the owner is super friendly and super positive. When I came to this hostel it was already night-time and everyone was sleeping but thanks to a guest inside I could get in. Early next morning, I got up and heard some noise outside and I'm like omg I will be in chaotic trouble cause I just broke in someone's property. I thought I would be like "call the point" but as it turns out she's super comfortable and flexible. She didn't bother anything and welcomed me with her radiant smiling face. Also, during my stay, I asked a lot of questions and she was super informative. With huge patience, she gave answers to all of my questions. She's really a nice person with generosity and kindness beyond human imagination. Thanks a lot, Christine. I hope next time I will stay there for longer.

ItalyThe staff were amazing, very kind and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and different everyday. I had to ask for an earlier breakfast almost everyday and they were super kind and did it each time. They also gave me helpful tips on where to eat and when to go see the attractions. The place itself is beautiful, very quiet and with an optimal location. Another great plus was the water dispenser!

VietnamMore mosquitos (not in dorm) than other places I've stayed. Dorm is not very soundproof, I could hear people talking outside, and the prayer at 4am, wooden bed and wooden door squeak quite loud. 3 or 4 showers in total, but for the 2 in the house, one heater was not working, the other one works but smells.
Spacious place with a handful of sitting areas, caring and supportive landlady, microwave, coffee, tea designated area, kitchen, water heater and dispenser. Excellent price with a small and delicious breakfast included. Clean bathrooms. Strongly recommend for large group.

New ZealandNot the hostel's fault but there weren't many other guests when I stayed so wasn't a particularly social spot. Bunks in dorms have curtains but they only cover about half the bed.
Exceptional location, close to Kraton Jogja, museums and food options. Hosts are so lovely! Very keen to help out with tips and transport options, and even making breakfast earlier for me when they knew I was heading off! Common spaces are nice. Amazing value especially considering breakfast is included (and was very good)

SerbiaGreat location in a very nice street. Central but quiet with very homely atmosphere. Very clean, enough bathrooms so no waiting. Good new mattresses with clean sheets. Towels and toiletries provided. Kitchen, living room, terrace, garden, lots of places to chill. Good AC in dorms. But the two ladies that run the place are what makes it extra special. You will feel safe and cared for and you will want to stay more. Breakfast was during my 7 days stay always traditional Indonesian and always different and always delicious. Water refill, coffee and tea all day as well. Value for money exceptional. This place is special.

CanadaI highly recommend this homestay! Everything was perfect! -Room: Spacious, clean, with a comfy bed where I slept like a baby. Even if I choose the room with a fan, it was never too hot in it (they also have rooms with a/c if you need it) -Bathrooms: Really clean, no bad smell, good water pressure, one of the showers have hot water, and there is a good ratio bathroom/number of guests -Breakfast: DELICIOUS!! Everyday they serve something different, always so tasty and good size portions. They also care if you have allergies or preferences (Indonesian food or not) -Location: The homestay is located in a really quiet green street with lots of trees where it feels cooler than the rest of the city. The neighborhood is safe, and you are close to everything -Common areas: Spacious and clean, and there is a garden with tables to chill and drink your coffee :) -Owner: She is a really nice person, can help you by giving you any informations about things to see, activities to do, places to go, and how to get there! I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book again if I come back to Yogya!!
