How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe enjoyed our stay here, the room was clean and comfortable and the sunset view over the beach literally outside the door was stunning! The staff were SUPER helpful, they let my husband borrow their scooter to go to the shop and ATM, my son also left behind his rucksack and they scootered it to the harbour for us so we could collect it. They also helped us to book our tickets for Karimunjawa. They have a nice restaurant where you can get breakfast/lunch/dinner and also a beer (one of the few places along that beach you can buy one!). The included breakfast was good too.
Nothing, it was a good stay

Verified reviewMy stay at Omah Laut was genuinely memorable for several reasons. First and foremost, because of the host, Tenny—without doubt one of the most attentive and helpful hosts I’ve come across. She went far beyond the usual hospitality: helping me arrange transport, suggesting activities, assisting with bookings elsewhere, giving me a lift to the bus stop, even helping me shop for things I needed during my stay, and making sure the meals were adjusted to my dietary needs. Her good English also made communication easy, and we shared some very enjoyable conversations. Her husband was equally very kind and helpful. The rest of the staff deserve mention too—always friendly, respectful, and ready to assist anytime I needed. The homestay itself feels peaceful and authentic, set away from city noise in a quiet Javanese environment. The beach -literally one minute walk from my room- is beautiful, usually very quiet, and perfect for relaxing or enjoying the sunset—which was spectacular most evenings. I also made good use of the canoes and paddle boards, played some badminton… and there is a small pool too. Meals were another highlight. Breakfast offered a generous variety, and lunche and dinner I had there were fresh and really tasty. My room was just what I needed—spacious, comfortable, clean, with both air conditioning and a fan, hot water, and everything in good working order. I’m very grateful to Tenny and everyone at Omah Laut for making the stay smooth, welcoming, and relaxing.

Verified reviewIf I ever felt at home on my trip, it was at this hotel. The owner, Tany, helped us with everything we needed, and we felt right at home. Not only did she help us, but she was extremely kind, accompanying us and introducing us to all the local people and fishermen. The entire hotel staff was wonderful and very, very friendly. I recommend this hotel 100%.

Verified reviewThe is quite shallow so the beach is safe for families with children. Also good price and great family rooms. Breakfast is delicious and the nature and trees are beautiful. I especially liked the style of the Restaurant and the beach canopy in traditional bamboo + dried coconut leaf roof, which gives it a very exotic atmosphere.
The supplemental rice portions in the restaurant could have been bigger.
Thank you very much. We hope to meet you and family again at our place.

Verified reviewI loved every aspect of this nice hotel: location, beach, food, staff and the calm. Only a few hours after arriving at Omah Laut Bondo Jepara we decided to extend our stay. We’ve travelled a lot in Java but honestly didn’t know one could get away from the crowds and find something this nice at such an affordable price. We stayed in a large room with three big beds in an adjacent traditionally built building with a garden view. Nice sandy beach. Food is excellent, don’t hesitate to order something that is not on the menu! Very nice owners. We wish them all the best and hope to come back one day!
The only thing I didn’t like is that we couldn’t stay longer than four nights.

Verified reviewVery nice homestay right by the sea! The staff are super nice and helpful. The fish and prawns are extremely tasty (make sure that you try the padang sauce and sesame sauce). The room is very clean and comfortable. We also could use the Kajaks for free! Thank you very much for the amazing time!

Verified reviewLove the tranquility, it was perfect for a getaway from daily routine. Very private beach area, kids were so delighted. Staff were very polite and friendly. Would love to visit here again later.
The wood house yet somehow had a bit of an unpleasant odor, perhaps because of the materials that were not easy to clean. I think the ordinary hotel room looks cleaner and better.

Verified reviewWieslaw and Teny are some of the best hosts we met! Their guesthouse is lovely and it feels like in paradise. We extended our stay two times 😉 We had a room with seaview. You can hear the sea while sleeping, nothing else. Everything was basic but clean. The bed was very big and comfy and we had also hot water in the shower. The AC worked well and was quiet. The beach was clean und the sea shallow - perfect for children! As a special we saw bioluminescent alges. The guesthouse has an own restaurant where you can enjoy food and drinks the whole day. The included breakfast was international/indonesia and very good. Every day the lovely staff made it in a different way with different ingredients. Try Teny‘s homemade bread and the banana pancakes! We enjoyed our stay because it felt so familiar and if we needed any help Wieslaw and Teny were there! We would recommend Omah Laut (eng. = sea house) by heart and definitely will come back if we are around 🧡
The wifi was not the best. In case you need it make sure you have enough data on your simcard 😉
