The weather was mild when I stayed there so it was not a problem, but there was no air conditioning in the room. Something to consider if booking during the warm season.

The worst part was meeting John at the hotel reception. He was our guide for two days and it couldn't have been worse. He didn't do his job since he didn't explain practically anything to us. Better not trust him. We told him that we did not want his guide or driver services for any more days and he would not accept No for an answer. It has been a nightmare meeting him.

Only complaint is that I wish the rooms had fans, it was cool enough that it was not a problem during our stay, but the rooms were a bit warm during the day. They might have had them on request but we did not ask.

Great Location, comfortable rooms, and helpful staff. Food at the restaurant was also delicious. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

    None noted

The staff was the best. The hotel is basic, but very cozy, clean, well located nearby the center (10 mins walk), has some nice views and a delicious kitchen. They are very helpful with travel info, buses, private cars...

Worth checking the room has an electricity socket if you’ll be needing one!

The staff were amazingly helpful … they let us check in early (4.30am!!!) and let us come back (after we’d left), to use one of their rooms to shower, after hiking … at no extra charge! SO kind! The rooms were basic, but adequate and excellent value for money! Very pretty hotel and excellent views!

You could hear the very loud crow of roosters traffic from the nearby main road very early in the morning. The café took a very long time to prepare the food — although I was very happy to wait because it was absolutely delicious and by far the best J have had during my travels in Indonesia.

The property was exceptionally clean and tidy, in a peaceful setting with a picturesque outlook. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Now for the ‘buts’: - Wi-Fi only works in the reception area. - Food takes a long time to arrive. Not great if others are ordering at a similar time. To get around this, the hack is to pre-order in advance and tell them what time you want it. - Our toilet broke twice. Quickly fixed but still inconvenient. - Although the temperature drops a bit overnight, it’s still far too hot in a room without AC or a fan. No conducive to a good night’s sleep. - It seems the biggest complaint, the lack of hot water, is indeed an issue. Out of six showers, two were warm (but not hot), three cold and one lukewarm. We had to ask staff twice to sort it out.

After reading some previous guests’ comments, I was still unsure what to expect from our three night stay when we arrived. Overall, it was an extremely positive experience. It’s a unique, very atmospheric property in the middle of town. The staff were nice and the food was tasty. The gardens are lovely to relax in with a beer after a long day exploring.

It can be a bit noisy sometimes in certain rooms early in the morning.

A nice homestay in the main street of Rantempao. Walking distance from the city center. Big spaces, super super kind hosts, always with a smile and good mood. Local food at good prices, different breakfast options and good portions.

Only one electricity socket. Strange configuration of light switches - serial instead of parallel - waste of energy when you need only main bulb. Had to squeeze some ants in the bathroom, then no problem anymore.

Nice layout around a beautiful garden with lovely views. Beautiful common area and very good breakfast which was served in time - despite some other comments here. Warm water and liquid soap in the shower. Good WiFi in the lobby area.

Good value given location in town yet still not overbuilt. The roomsoverlook a large field away from traffic. Staff are all super helpful and can communicate. In English. One wven invited me to his family Matunu and the boos agreed to give him time off to accompany me.. Speaking of the boss, Ms. MINA is really capable and obliging to her guests going out of her way to make rhem comfortable. Top Marks!

The roosters and dogs having a hullabaloo. They wake you up around five.

I love this place! Rooms are good size and clean, facing mountains and greenery. The staff is friendly and helpful. The best is that there’s a really nice and quiet common area for just hanging around and eating at the restaurant, and the food is really superb! It takes a while to get, but it is so good! I also really liked the driver they hooked me up with. He was great value and very good at showing us all sorts of interesting places. No need to figure it out beforehand, he can fix it for you. We had him four days, the last day being a beautiful walk in the mountains, and the other days visiting all those caves, baby trees, a funeral party etc. The driver lived next door and is called Papa Amel. Try to get him!
