How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Toilet had no water all night. When they fixed it in the morning, I walked in and the room smelled like sewage — total horror. Restaurant staff didn’t speak English, so communication was impossible at breakfast. Ordered a taxi — it took 40 minutes, and my butler told the driver what to charge me… which turned out to be double what I paid from the airport.

Verified review1. Very accessible to Komodo airport , best sunset views with their very own pier and private beach 2. The staff went out of their way to take care of us . Big shout out to Nadhira , she really anticipated all our needs and took care of them 3. The food - specially the breakfast was out of the world . Clean , fresh and great taste . Loved both the in-houser restaurants too 4. Property reeks of luxury and is still so environmentally conscious. It was a truly memorable experience

Verified reviewFor anyone seeking quiet luxury, this is a perfect place. Our room was steps away from the beach, the pool and the spa. Small, intimate and amazing personalised service. Everyone in the hotel knew our names and my husband’s special dietary requirements. Little touches like the housekeeping sand writing in front of our front door to lemon infused water served by the poolside, the attention to detail was perfect! Our butler made a WhatsApp group to serve every small request we had, no request was denied and the service was always with a smile. When our travel agent messed up and our drop off to the airport didn’t show up, the receptionist very quickly arranged the hotel car to drop us free of charge. I would highly recommend this resort to couples and families alike.
Wish they had more charging points in the room for our devices. Other than this, loved everything!

Verified reviewSerene and quiet, away from the hordes of tourists. We enjoyed the privilege of peace and tranquility of this very beautiful resort. We liked the local craftsmenship of the villas, as well as the personal touch of a butler service. Sometimes it felt as if the whole resort was ours.

Verified reviewBeautiful room-villa with private pool! Very comfortable bedding and spacious: everything we needed was there. It took some time for us to figure out how the complex lighting-system worked but it was great! Loved the semi-outside bathroom and the little sun-sheltered reading-table by the pool. Well-sized lovely pool too. The staff were wonderful, attentive and always ready to help. Breakfast-buffet was fabulous: hot and cold food, all sorts of juices, etc. The pool-bar was great with lovely staff. I would definitely recommend this resort.
Although the food in the evenings was good, quantities could have been better and you didn't really get what was written on the menu: some sort of "nouvelle-cuisine" initiative? One of my dishes was meant to have various vegetable served with the meat, but that ended up to be 1 (one!) cherry tomato-sized carrot and another (1) tiny decorative piece of something else... After two evenings in a row eating there, we decided to take a taxi to Labuan Bajo and found some really good restaurants there.

They clean the beach everyday, but trash in the water is a constant. More of a behavioral problem than a resort problem. Stick to the pool.

Verified reviewThe service was excellent; the staff were very congenial and quick to jump in and help/assist with our travel planning, activities on site, food and beverage service.
The beach, while out of control of the hotel, was surprisingly and unfortunately quite polluted, especially the water. All sorts of trash seemed to floating in the water which certainly took away from the pristine-ness of the place. Again, I know this is a larger issue and not something the hotel can necessarily control, however I did expect the enviornment to be a bit cleaner

Verified reviewIt was absolutely a dream. Everything was perfect—the room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. All the staff were very friendly, especially Fabi, our butler. The beach is enchanting, and the afternoon tea was delicious. The food at the hotel restaurant was also very tasty.

Verified reviewPlataran was a welcome respite after 2 weeks on the road in Flores. But the whole Labuan Bajo area is a nightmare - a tourist mecca gone off the rails. However, the rooms are beautiful, the spa excellent, and the jetty is bliss if you can get it to yourself
Constant awful music blasts 24/7. Noisy kids screaming - the grounds are too small for a kid-friendly atmosphere. Its just not a peaceful place, except for the spa. In addition, the surrounds are full of new hotel construction. Honestly, i would skip the whole area. Much, much better locations in other areas of Indonesia with better value comprably.

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved our stay at the Plataran. It is a very small resort, only 18 rooms and right by the beach. You walk along the beach to get to the restaurants, so feels very much in nature. It is super relaxing and peaceful and has just beautiful rooms and facilities. The spa was fantastic, we had a very good massage and facial. There was a lot of choice at breakfast and in the restaurant. The one thing we missed was some more lighter options for the mains for lunch. They can also organize private Komodo tours over multiple days.
Only reason for not giving 10 stars was the staff very super kind and trying to be helpful. However, many of them were not really trained yet and did not understand english that well.
