How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewRoom was lovely, clean, comfortable, good aircon, beautiful garden, relaxing pool and atmosphere. Lovely breakfast. Massage available. Staff, helpful, friendly. Daily water provided.
Location not so good if you want to be next to the beach. About a 20mins walk had to cross the busy main road.

The bathroom was stinky. They need to clean the pipes. Also, they need a proper safe in the room.

The only negative was our bed. It creaked loudly if you moved in bed. The location isn’t in a tourist area, more of a local area. There’s plenty of eateries in walking distance and it’s a very cheap and quick taxi ride to the tourist strip so it didn’t bother us. We preferred it due to the serenity

Verified reviewIt is a quaint, lovely boutique hotel. Too bad the location is too far from everything. It is very quiet which I like, and the garden is beautiful. The staff very friendly and eager to help, but not everyone speaks English, nor are they there 24/7.
Location too far from everything. TV not up-to-date. Channels extremely limited. Staff absence and food service availability only at certain time of day.

Verified reviewPondok Ayu and it's staff are the reason why this is our 11th trip to Bali. Exceeded all our expectations. The wonderful; wonderful staff that are super friendly; well trained was an experience not to forget. Everything well maintained, food served at the restaurant part delicious and cheap. Breakfasts more than sufficient. Our well equipped kitchen was never used. Property location good. 15 minutes walk to beach. Gardens extremely well maintained. 10/10 on all. Could suggest to owners larger TV in bedrooms. Also - few smaller tables in "restaurant" area rather than one large table? Overall- fantastic experience- certainly deserves more than 3 stars. Would most certainly visit again in future. Thanks again to wonderful friendly staff.

Verified reviewThis place was so lovely! It is located in a quiet street, just 15mins away from plenty of shops and restaurants. It was beautiful overall. The rooms are very spacious, the bed was comfy & the bathroom was nice. The room was also very clean. The people running the place were very helpful & kind. The pool was nice too. Definitely a great place to stay in Sanur!

Verified reviewEverything. Great hosts, room had everything and really clean. Breakfast very good. Fantastic swimming pool and small courtyard garden. Host happy to order taxis which were extremely cheap.
Location needed taxi to go anywhere as busy road needed to be crossed. No real restaurant on site. A meal could be ordered from a limited menu which was always good but finished at 7.30pm.

Still have issue with with quality of mattress and pillows very flat and uncomfortable I suffer with neck pain so neck and shoulders aggravated after a nights sleep

Verified reviewIt was so peaceful away from all street noice The staff were so friendly, could communicate well and served a very good breakfast. We took a Grab Taxi from there to the beach a short distance and a couple of $S only
It wasn’t an easy walk to the beach and there was a big road to cross on the way.

Booking .com claim 800 metres to beach, as the crow flies this may be true. It takes over 20 minutes and you have to cross over an extremely busy road. For us the beds and pillows were to hard.

Verified reviewYou can see on the picture here, it is beautiful swimming pool. But it is a pond in the jungle now. Almost all pool side with plant pot, looks the facility very small than before .
The property looks smaller than we visit few years ago when we visit. With a lot of plant pot at pool side. The new owner doesn’t have nature mind.
