How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Is a small house, only two available rooms.
Dear Guillermo, Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re glad you enjoyed the peaceful jungle setting, the comfort of the bed, and the kindness of our team. It’s also wonderful to hear you appreciated the nearby rice fields and the delicious food at the restaurant. Our small and intimate space with only two rooms is part of the charm we love to share with our guests — and we’re happy you felt that too. We hope to welcome you back someday!

Verified reviewBeautiful large room with comfortable bed, swimming pool, set in a lush tropical garden. Owners were very generous and helpful, providing snacks and fruit from their garden, organising transport and tours, organising laundry and massages for very reasonable prices. The warung at the other end of the village (Bu Widy) does delicious local food. The village is very friendly with children high-fiving us every time we walked up the street. Interesting to watch the rice fields being prepared and planted out.
No negative, just a few tips for future travellers. Location a bit isolated so dependent on own transport or having the owners organise it (although that was part of the appeal for us). Mostly very quiet, but good to shift your body clock to fit around waking up for calls to prayer at the local mosque (convenient for waking up to go to Ijen). If you need an English speaking guide as well as a driver for tours, make sure to check this in advance - Putri came up Ijen with us, which was great as she was able to explain things to us, the other day we had a shorter tour just with her cousin driving, so didn't get any explanations. He was still very helpful and took us to a traditional wedding festival along the way when he heard the music playing - a highlight of that day.
Dear Jennifer, Thank you so much for your incredibly detailed and thoughtful review! We’re truly happy to know you enjoyed the spacious room, the lush tropical garden, and the small touches like snacks and fruits from our garden. It means a lot to us that you appreciated our help in organizing transport, tours, laundry, and massages — we always try to make our guests feel as relaxed and cared for as possible. We’re also glad you had the chance to explore the village and enjoy the delicious food at Warung Bu Widy. The warmth of the local community and simple moments — like watching the rice fields being planted — are indeed part of the authentic experience we hope to share. Thank you for the helpful tips for future travelers — your insights are spot-on and will be very valuable to others. We’re also grateful for your kind words about Putri and your flexibility with the tour experience. The story about the traditional wedding made us smile — such a lovely surprise along the way! It was a pleasure having you stay with us, and we’d be thrilled to welcome you again someday.

Verified reviewSome of the hosts are nice.
The propertit in itself is fine. But the female host has been the worst liar we have seen in whole of the Indonesia. We came a bit late to see the blue fire and asked them if they could arrange a taxi for us, instead of telling is they can’t she told us we can’t go, we need a medical check and we have no time to make the medical check (WHICH WAS A LIE). I ask her if the has a raincoat she says she doesn’t have my size, I tell her then give to my girlfriend she is small, and then she says that she doesn’t have a raincoat. All in all the young lady is disgusting and almost ruined our chance of seeing the blue fire. I am very saddened because I have to give this horrible review as the other kid and the older gentlemen were nice.

Verified reviewWonderful bungalow next to the family who are all so friendly and cute, helpful and cook great authentic Indonesian food and breakfast (rice, eggs or pancakes with fruits). They also helped organising our Ijen Tour what worked perfectly and was one of the best experiences we had in Jawa. You only have to know that since January 24 you need a health certificate from an Indonesian hospital for doing Ijen. The view is amazing, there are cute cats and chicken and it is far away from the city, do not be confused with the drive, you think you arrive in nowhere :) but totally worth the drive if you like nature and loneliness.

Verified reviewThis stay was very healing for us! We had booked it due to it's closeness to Ijen but we were not feeling well so we took the time to relax instead. It was really wonderful and we spent our days lounging around the pool and walking into the village. The breakfast was tasty and filling, and the staff were friendly and comfortable. The family next door are also very sweet and they sometimes gave us veggies :-). Thanks Pondok Is Oke!!
The kids are adorable but they are sometimes loud in the morning :-)

Verified reviewThis place is the real deal! It's an amazing place to stay and get a feel for the culture and landscape. The family that owns and runs it are warm and helpful. The setting amongst the rice terraces and up on the hill is stunning. Well worth staying for a few days to soak it all in. The rooms are lovely too and it's much cooler than down in the main town. The breakfasts are great too including fresh berries from the family garden.
Nothing to dislike.
thank u for your kind comment, we cant wait to have u again staying at our place sometime soon!
