How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis hostel is a small gem Yogyakarta. The staff is always willing to help with a smile on their face, the breakfast is delicious and the dormitory is very comfortable. It is also very close to a nice street with a lot of good bars and nice shops. I just loved spending my days here!

Verified reviewThis was one of the most expensive places we stayed in Indonesia and also one of the worst. The good things: location. Most of the staff were nice, if not particularly informative.
So many things — the AC was almost worthless. It was unbearably hot in our room even running it all day. There are SO many mosquitos on the property. Even just walking from our door to the exit, I got bites every time. There is no escape since all the public spaces are “outside.” The bathroom, which is outside, is also filled with mosquitos, so we were incredibly careful about keeping the door closed all the time. The sink basically didn’t work so we used the shower to wash our hands. The breakfast was easily the worst meal we ate our whole time in Indonesia, so we only did it once. I recommend getting breakfast at one of the many cafes in the area instead. The ladder to the bed is a bit scary and hard to climb if you have to pee in the middle of the night. There is also nowhere in the loft to charge anything or put a book or your glasses. The light up there is plugged into a panel that is breaking the wall and flickers if you move in the middle of the night. I would also strongly recommend earplugs. The call to prayer is loud, but the more prescient issue was INSANELY loud music late at night and early morning (literally heavy bass at 7am Sunday). It was nearly shaking the walls from somewhere nearby.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations, especially considering it was one of the more expensive parts of your trip. We genuinely appreciate your kind words about our location and our friendly team—it means a lot to us. We also sincerely apologise for the discomfort you experienced. - After you kindly informed our staff about the sink issue, we promptly repaired it to ensure it's now working properly for future guests. - Regarding the mosquito concern, considering most of our area is mainly outdoors, we’ve placed natural lemongrass scent repellents in the bathrooms and are continuing to look for better solutions to minimise the presence of mosquitoes on the property. - Your comments have been shared with our kitchen team for immediate review and improvement. Although, as we remembered you had the breakfast twice during your stay and it was empty plates when it returned. - As for the noise and loud music you mentioned, we understand how frustrating that can be. While this was from an external source beyond our control, we do sincerely apologise for the disturbance and provide earplugs in each room to help minimise such issues. - We also appreciate your comments about the room layout and lighting in the loft. We will take these suggestions into consideration as we continue to improve the comfort and functionality of our spaces. Thank you again for your valuable feedback — it helps us grow and do better. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Indonesia and wish you all the best in your future travels.

Thanks so much for the great feedback! We're really glad you enjoyed the cosy vibe, the chill common areas, and the breakfast. Banana pancakes are definitely a guest favourite. Verified reviewBasic room, clean and comfortable bed. Nice staff, we booked two private yoga classes which were great. The breakfast was good. Good location.
It has an outdoor bathroom which I personally don’t love but that’s a personal preference. They have a scooter rental but unfortunately the scooters were sold out when we were there.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're happy to hear you found the room clean and the bed comfortable, and it's great that you enjoyed the yoga classes and breakfast. We're also glad our staff and location met your expectations. We appreciate your note about the outdoor bathroom. Understandably, it's not for everyone, but thank you for mentioning it respectfully. Sorry to hear the scooters were unavailable during your visit; we'll look into improving availability to better meet demand. Thanks again for your helpful feedback!

Verified reviewStayed here for 3 weeks. Staff was really nice, if I had a question it will be answered immediately. Also if something broke, they’ll fixed it asap. Location was very close to a lot of nice places and the center of yogya. It was clean and bathrooms had an open roof shower which I really liked, but it also offers an shower inside for who prefers that. Overall, this hostel was more an home than a hostel.

Verified reviewNice little houses around a pretty garden. Pool, seating area and a kitchen. Nice breakfast. Great location. Great value for the price.
3D mold on the walls in the main room and in the bathroom. Little house can accommodate 2 adults or en extra (small) child, who can all sleep upstairs. I don't recommend using the couch/sofa for 3rd person - as it is very uncomfortable. There is enough room downstairs even for a nice double bed - a hint for the owners. Kitchen was a bit dirty.

Verified reviewThe vibe is good, staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is very good!
The room is extremely dark inside the tiny house, making me not sure if the room is completely cleared or not. Because it’s too dark so I couldn’t see the room inside. The open air bathroom is a romantic idea, but in reality it makes any bugs can come inside the bathroom (I have to kill at least one cockroach per night during my stay)
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere, the friendliness of our staff, and the quality of our breakfast. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the lighting and the open-air bathroom. We can drink and made our food, and also i am surprise that i’ve got breakfast. I keep asking to the staff is it really em got breakfast?
The bathroom floor. Too slippery, maybe bcs from the previous user, the soap foam didnt clean and flushed. The shower on the big bathroom, the water flow is too small The smell of smoke from the outside everytime i open the door and if theres alot people gath outside.
