Rumah Markisa was a very welcoming place. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, breakfast served was great, the garden area and terrace was beautiful and peaceful. The rooms were simple but clean and comfortable. The location also is great, giving peace since it's a little drive from the main surf spot but very close to the reef surf spot and restaurants around.

We experienced some heavy rains which caused some leaks in the room through the window. The staff were helpful to fix the issue and offer a room change so it didn't affect our stay more than that one day. The only other personal preference would be to have closed bathrooms. The open style invites many mosquitos and bugs in which can be disturbing. In general it didn't affect our stay and we were able to keep the room mostly mosquito free.

The house design makes you feel like being in a quiet & calm European village, the room is quite spacious, the bath room is clean with natural light, no TV but the Wifi is great, spacious balcony to sit, relax & enjoy breakfast, location is great, walking distance from the beach, you need to walk around 1KM to get to the beach center where the crowd gather but we prefer Rumah Markisa for a laid-back holiday, no need for loud and crowd but we still get to enjoy great views, the beach, and the food, breakfast was superb with great sourdough and fresh fruits, coffee was also nice, we took some pictures there and were really inspired to build one for our future retirement home 😊

Nothin.. Absolutely none.. We love the house, the green plants, the breakfast, the coffee, the air, we'd love to come back again 😊

This place is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, each room has a private terrace and the A/C is a great bonus. It was very picturesque. The staff is AMAZING. Huge shoutout to Alvi who is so kind and a wonderful cook. Toti, the manager, is so helpful and is always there for anything you need.

Expensive for Batukaras, especially the location. It's one of the hotels that are further out from the main break surf spot (still only a few minute scooter ride).

Rumah Markisa was the most beautiful place on Java for us! The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished with a wonderful and peaceful view over ricefields. Everything is clean and tidy. The garden is beatifullly and lovingly kept and it's an absolute feel good place. Furthermore Tito and Alfi make you feel at home. They are friendly, open minded and always in a good mood. We loved staying there and can recommend that place 100 percent. We will come back for sure!

Smooth check-in with Toti, very friendly staffs. Room is great and spacious (no TV - not a necessity for us so it's really ok), Bathroom is clean, though the basin is rather tight (I stayed in room Mangga), I have no space to put my amenities - no hand soap either nearby so we need to go to shower area to have some soap. Water pressure is superb, temperature is stable too. Bed and pillow were too plushy for my liking, but could be different for others, linens are good, sufficient racks to dry your wet towel & suits, Ac works fine. Would be perfect is in-room sandals were provided. It's simple yet beautiful building, very cozy, beautiful terrace, beautiful gardens. The common dining room is a winning for us - makes the stay feels homey especially when you go with group of friends. Breakfast is great too, love the bread! Overall the ambience is really nice, it's quiet and serene, quite far from the busy beach, nice view of rice field by the garden, short walking distance to beach (not the one you can swim and surf I guess? it was where the fishermen kept the boats - but enough for us to just enjoy the breeze & view of the shore). Wish I stay longer! Would be back one day for sure.

    - no handsoap - tight basin space - you might need to rent a bike to go the surfing beach, as it's quite far to walk by foot

Everything, the view over the rice fields, the serenity and beauty of surroundings, the élégant design of the building, the help of Doyok with tips to enjoy our stay, the proximity of the surf spots (2 minutes by bike). The best accommodation we had in Indonesia. We loved it. Thank you Doyok for designing such a perfect and relaxing place.
