How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe usually never go to hostels because they seems a bit neglected, but for this one we made an exception thanks to the good reviews. I'm really glad to have chosen snooze because the kindness of the girls inside is very unique, they helped us to manage our trips even before joining Indonesia, making our programmation a lot easier! Regarding the absence of hot water it's really not a problem because the water it's not too cold. One last but not least mention to the driver that guided us through Borobudur and Prambanan temples and also in our trip to Malang, Imam! He's the best driver we ever had in our whole life!! Super professional we always felt safe on the Indonesian streets (whoever has been to Indonesia knows that safety is really low for the drivers). He always laughed helping us to do the trip with great mood and helped us to understand how things works, he even made a stop not planned based on our special request to try Luwak coffee! Verified reviewThe staff were so friendly and accommodating, even though we had to check in after the usual check in time. The room and the shared facilities were spotless. I loved the plants and decoration (see coconut monkey). The bed was comfortable, The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was so good we even ordered more after breakfast. We only stayed for one night but I honestly wish we stayed here longer!

Fan room felt a little hot for me at night. I am too tall for the property at 1.96m. Lots of low hanging plants and low doorways - much more than usual for me.

Regarding to the fan, we actually have additional fan facilities on hand. So, when you're feeling like you need a little extra cooling, just let us know. We usually provide for anyone who need that extra bit of comfort. We apologize for our simple, eco-friendly home design, which is based on the traditional Javanese architectural style. As a result, the dimensions closely match those of older homes, and so far we've keep it original that way. Furthermore, due to space constraints, we haven't made any modifications. However, we always try to do our best for everyone and we will mind the concern you have for the better future. Thank you for enjoying your stay. It would be good to have some hot water for showers but when the weather is hot it’s not so much of a problem.

Verified reviewThe Snooze is definitely a very good place to get to know Yogyakarta. You can do most things by foot. The women in the Snooze are wonderful, they are so helpful and friendly, I never had problems to ask them. The garden was great to have breakfast there and even to be there during the day. There’s only missing a hammock…😉 The breakfast was also very good and we really enjoyed our stay there.
Sooner or later it would be great, if the mattresses got changed, they are already a little too soft.

Breakfast was great and we were offered many iced teas! The atmosphere of the location is very enjoyable and probably is improved by the people working in.
The place does not describe itself as a hostel, but it actually seems working as an hostel. Nonetheless the experience has been great, need to consider that room and bathroom are dislocated one to the other.

I needed to leave 15min before the breakfast start time and they didn’t allowed me to have it or even a small thing to eat and breakfast was included in the price.

We regret that our breakfast schedule didn’t align well with your early departure. While we did offer some takeaway options, we understand they may not have suited your needs. Perhaps we weren’t clear enough in explaining that we could at least provide a light breakfast such as morning coffee or tea with a fruit bowl, as the main dish is not available outside of breakfast hours. Verified reviewThe staff are very supportive and always available. Tours are bookable through the hostel and they will support you in getting the correct ticket for Borobudur. The breakfast is excellent with an option of sweet or savoury. Good location.
There is only one dormitory - as a solo traveller, this can limit the amount of people you meet.

Verified reviewThe staff were incredible! They were so friendly and helpful! Also the hostel cat is the cutest!! My friend and I really appreciated the packed breakfast. We had early starts all throughout our stay and missed the free breakfast. Having packed breakfast was ideal to bring with us! The dorm was really nice, and the hostel itself was so cool! With little nooks and crannies that people can relax in surrounded by greenery!

Maybe consider changing the pillows because they're so hard. The prices for budget room with AC but no windows & cold showers is a little high but the breakfast makes it worth it.

Howevet, We’re sorry for the parts of your experience that fell short of your expectations, especially concerning our facilities and the lack of hot water. As we mentioned before, that we only provide regular water temperature in the showers, for applying the concept of eco friendly hostel and we try to use a minimalist electricity system, thus we are sorry for this. Even so, we’re grateful for your feedback and will keep it in mind for future upgrades. We always try to do our best for everyone and we will mind the concern you have for the better future. Verified reviewNice communial areas to sit and have breakfast or chill. Also good room with all nessecaties. The breakfast was amazing and you always had options or take out a breakfast box, laundry service is also available and fast. Everytime you came in the ladys at the reception welcomed you and offered you a free drink which was very refreshing. There was good information on things to do and loved the transportation service to the tempels that they offered. Always good advice on where to eat. Check out foreignerstreet! and they really care about you having a good stay. Felt like home!
That some doors al very low. I bumbed my head twice. there was only one sink at the 2 showers and there was a hook missing for your toiletry bag or towel. Meeting solo travelers was not always easy beacuse there is only one bunkbed room.

Verified reviewSuper friendly staff and the hostel was so cute with a little garden. Our room was very clean and it was really nice to have some privacy. We had sunrise hikes planned each day and they packed us little to go breakfasts which were really helpful.
