How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room was dark, we missed natural light, but it is ok for 1-2 nights.
The hosts are very kind and helpful. Water, tea and coffee were always available. They helped with the booking of Ijen tour and shuttle buses.

While clean the bathroom had an unpleasant smell. But ok if you’re just staying there for 1-2 nights.
Very friendly staff, helpful with everything. Good tour for Ijen on offer.

Very noisy room both on the reception area and the garden of the hostel, couldn't really sleep :/ And sheets to cover yourself would've been great as well as hot water :)

Nice and quiet hostel with everything. I needed for a short stay. The fan in the room worked well and the bed was comfortable enough. I liked that the staff gave local food tips without me even asking they seemed genuinely helpful.

However, because it's a bit hidden, it was tricky to find at first. My taxi driver wasn’t familiar with it, and the signage wasn’t very clear
There’s a quiet spirituality in the way this hostel operates it’s not flashy or commercial, but grounded and thoughtful. From the small kindnesses of the staff to the calmness of the design, everything felt like it was made with intention. I left feeling a little lighter than when I arrived, which says a lot

Cold showers but not that much of a problem
Comfy and clean, kitchen facilities were great, staff were super nice and helpful! Brilliant place to stay in banyuwangi. Very good price

This is one of those hostels where the price makes you double-check to see if it’s real. Super cheap, clean enough, Wi-Fi works, and they give you a towel. Not luxurious, but unbeatable for the price. You won’t find better value in the city.

Small of the room a little small, and mattress was not really comfy but nothing majeur !
Good place, the fact that the place have a kitchen/fridge is really good ! The workers are really nice and helpful! Recommend to stay there !

The staff are the best! So kind and helpful and it felt we were amongst friends. Room was the right size for what we needed and beds were comfortable. Our room had a little balcony which was nice too. There is a kitchen where you can cook or make coffee. Their cat is super friendly and will come say hello often!

Ummm, maybe location?
We liked everything, really. The only “meh” thing was maybe the location — it’s not in the center, but actually that’s why it’s so quiet. Ara gave us great tips on where to eat locally and how to use Grab.

The room was really hot. The fan is so small that it doesn’t really help.
The staff is super helpful and kind, they really make an effort to help you with all your concerns. Booked the Ijen tour through them and loved this. The location was perfect as well, we could easily walk to cafes etc. Bonus points for the cute cat, Happy, who loves to cuddle!

Friendly and relaxed place in a local neighborhood. We met some fellow travelers and enjoyed hanging out in the common area. Rizki had great suggestions for cheap eats nearby and helped us plan our visit to the waterfall.

Nice budget-friendly spot for a few nights. Staff were kind and knowledgeable — Rizki gave us some awesome Ijen tips. Only thing: the water pressure was a bit low in the morning, but manageable.
