We are sorry to say but we were really sick after this trip, and we could not think of anything else apart from the breakfast buffet that we think was cold and contributed to the diarrhea and fever that we had. I was sick and Hugo had to be in bed for a few days due to this and this was not an ideal situation for us especially if we were travelling.

We love the location, or the view and we love how big the resort is so there are lots to explore and to do. This is definitely the place to relax and reset. Staff were really friendly, and we did get upgraded to a better room.

The beds were hard, food was just OK. It was hard to get info about walks on the property- there seemed to be lots of greats walks/ hiking but not detailed maps and staffed wanted to drive us everywhere

The grounds are view if the lake are amazing! There is a lovely walk to waterfall on the property and tons of sitting areas all over the grounds to lounge

The place is very big with many rooms (and more under construction) but there weren't many guests at the time so it had a rather bizarre feel to it. Not the most personal experience.

While the dinner steamboat was good, the BBQ dinner could have been better in terms of soread and service. Beds can be more comfortable.

Far away to anywhere, and the access especially the road need maintance and so many mosquitoes bite me

the most i like is the weather, fresh and cold, also the Toba Lake View, incredible and so beautiful. And i have take so many picture early in the morning before the sun rise . The room was clean and big enough for 2 person. Also the surrounding of the hotel, it was very comfort for jogging in the morning.

Taman Simalem Resort was one of the highlights of our trip to Sumatra! We stayed for just one night in the Waterfall Superior Room, but it left such a lasting impression. Initially, we thought the price was a bit steep, but once we arrived, we completely understood—it’s worth every penny. The resort is massive and immaculately maintained. You truly feel like you’ve stepped into another world. We especially loved how green and natural everything was, with their own coffee and tea plantations. The produce was fantastic—we even brought some English Breakfast tea home, and I can’t recommend it enough! We also LOVED the breakfast! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The room was spacious, and the bed was incredibly large and cozy. The restaurant in the Waterfall Bungalows area was absolutely charming, and the food was excellent. If you’re looking for a serene escape surrounded by nature, this resort is a must-visit!

It was very noisy one night as they had an event booked. I believe if the event is booked with music and singing then it should be away from the guest rooms. I could hear them sing and cheering it was a wedding party.

Need to be more upfront about the construction going on at the property prior to booking. We upgraded to the lake view hotel/ rooms but can smell paint / varnish throughout the hallways. Also walls floors carry a lot of sound and can easily hear other guests while in the room. Also need blinds for above the door to hallway because the hallway lights shine directly into the bedroom sleeping area.

The location is incredible. Food at the restaurant tasted great except my girlfriend did get very sick our second night there.

The soup tomyum wasn't great though. The rooms also may not have fans or air-conditioning (though these will be reflected when you book). We found our nights comfortable anyway. Note that the resort is huge, and a car is needed to get you from the reception to the Pangambatan Cafe/ waterfall area etc. They do have resort vehicles though to accommodate you.

The resort is a great place for family holidays, especially ones with younger children. You can spend your entire trip here. Though we were out of the resort exploring during the days, coming back to the clean beds, hot water, good wifi, it feels perfect. I liked the buffet breakfast with a view of the lake. The Indonesian dishes are usually good. Definitely try the Soto udang at Pangambatan cafe. You can use Visa to pay here. If you'd like to do sightseeing, they can arrange drivers for the whole day, payment is cash up front. Service here is excellent, especially from Ms Citra, the Room Division Manager.

Nothing to report, it was great.

The location and lake view are simply breathtaking. I didn’t realise how huge their land was before arriving there. We were greeted by Kaban at the reception, who was friendly and knowledgeable, and kindly gave us a tour of the gorgeous twin waterfall. The rooms are very comfortable and it is worth upgrading to get the lake view. We have really enjoyed our stay and I definitely recommend this resort.
