How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe double room with private bathroom is extremely nice for the price, it’s like a small studio with 2 floors and a hammock area to chill. Nice location close to the busy street with nice bars and restaurants. The place itself has a very nice vibe and the staff gives good advices and can help to have a scooter delivered straight to the hostel.
No hot water in the shower but this is common in Indonesia.

Verified reviewThe hostel was good as it is close to restaurants, cafes and some touristic places.
I thought the hostel will be lively, just some people talking until midnight with the host, maybe when I came not many people were there.

Verified reviewOur stay at YezYezYez Hostel was so good! We ended up booking an extra 2 nights here. Darius was extremely kind, informative & even invited us to an event one night where we got to experience true Yogyakarta vibes. We booked the double room with a private bathroom, it was spacious & clean & had two hammocks downstairs to relax. We used the pool frequently & sat in the common area where we got to meet other guests. The location was excellent, 5 minute walk away from a lively street with lots of restaurants, cafes & shops. Darius was so helpful to me especially as I was quite ill when we stayed, told us where we could see a doctor, where the pharmacy was & he checked up on me constantly to make sure I was okay. Helped us organise how to get to the airport, gave us honest reviews of the places around & was overall just lovely. If you’re looking for a good place to eat, I recommend Tjemara Noodle Bar 😍 I 10/10 recommend this hostel, not only for the hostel itself but to meet Darius too!

Verified reviewAmazing place, great vibe. Close to shops, pubs and restaurants but in a quiet area. Clean, spacious with all facilities that you need. You can rent a scooter, they also have a laundry service on site, you can book tours too. I slept in a private double room and a dorm. Both comfortable. Free coffee and tea. They have a small kitchenette so you can prepare some food or boil water. Darius is an amazing, welcoming, helpful and friendly host. Highly recommend. Value for money.
The only thing is that dormitory doesn't have anything to cover yourself.

Verified reviewThe price is cheap but still not worth it!
Most AWEFUL place i've stayed. We are totally fine with basic rooms but this was below expectations. Our bedroom had only 3 walls, one side was covered with a curtain only ... Making it loud at night becase it faced the common area. If you thought that was crazy alteady, wait for it. After our first night we went in the city and it rained, we came back to our room being flooded. The matress fully wet and so some of our stuff. I booked another hotel immediatly for the night. Then I went to the reception to tell them and show them the wet room. I then asked for a refund for the following night, but he said he coudn't give it without permission of his boss. I got his whatsapp number and he promised me to let me know what his boss said. Well, ofcourse he ignored us. On top of that and a rat ran through our room. I really can't believe this place still exists, for the same price you can get a really decent place too.

Verified reviewReally nice staff, I felt welcome right from the beginning and they are so helpful with booking the tours. The place looks pretty cool and they reused old material. Big plus is the pool! Location is great. Quiet but close to bars, restaurants, shops etc.
The room was SUPER hot so I felt like sleeping in a sauna and the mattess has definitely seen better days. Also the showers and toilets could be cleaned a little better. Even though there are many areas to chill they are not so comfortable.

Verified reviewGood location with nice bars and food places around. The place is all made from recycled bits and bobs, it’s the facilities are very basic but that’s what makes it so special. That and the staff members who are absolutely the best, so friendly and lovely and will help you with everything.
It can get a bit loud in the night from the sounds of Mosque near by.

Verified reviewIt is a simple but great place. A really nice pool. The staff is amazing. Really helpful and nice! For me it was the best hostel so far in Indonesia!
Getting there the first time with a grab is difficult. You cannot reach the exact location by car. Better to look for a drop off near on a bigger road.
