Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

This is a really charming hotel, with a beautifully decorated and comfortable room with a great bathroom. It is perfectly situated just 10 minutes away from the ferry port which makes it ideal for our travel between the UK and Ireland.

Within the shower cubicle the grouting needed a good scrub and clean. No plug in basin so could not fill a bowl of water for shaving or face washing. Rusty hinges in bathroom cabinet.
Welcoming, friendly host. Great location for the ferry terminal and close to beach. Stylish, spacious room. Comfortable bed.

Absolutely nothing!
Absolutely everything the welcome the minute you walk in the door..the rooms were better than alot of hotels we've been in. Both owners were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Applelea 👌 100%.The whole setting and location beautiful. The attention to detail in the room was stunning.

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. He was full the night we were going to come back at the end of our holiday to catch the ferry, so he found a local B&B that could have us.

There was nothing not to like.
Everything. It was luxurious clean quiet and the host was very helpful. He phoned a local pub to ensure they could take us for a meal and made us very welcome. The room was beautiful with high class bedding and pillows. A nice touch was a bottle of complimentary water. We will be back.

There was nothing we did not like.
Location is perfect in order to catch the early ferry to Fishguard. We have stayed At Applelea House last year and had no second thoughts about booking again this year on our return to UK from the far west of Ireland.

Very close to Rosslare so handy for the ferry. Nice room with lovely interior design, big comfortable bed, wonderful shower and pretty gardens.

Once we had been shown the room there was very little interaction with the owners.
The decor and facilities were very tastefully done. Very laidback management style. Close to Rosslare ferry for easy transfer.

The only thing that I didn’t like was the pillows, cause they were so heavy and hard. And when the sun came out all the room was full of brightness and light.
The room and the facilities were super clean and nice. Everything was just like the pictures and the guy who showed us the room was so polite and nice.

Darker room as blinds don't fully exclude light. Fresh milk to make tea. TV didn't seem to have normal channels but maybe my fault.
Tea making in room. Confortable bed, lovely shower. No breakfast but handy for us as travelling to early morning ferry.

Was welcomed by one of the hosts, and shown to my room, and given various bits of information regarding local beach for a walk, and use of Wi-Fi etc. Room was beautifully decorated and furnished. Bathroom was a good size with a walk in shower. Everywhere was very clean. Felt very comfortable in the room and was able to relax and get a good (for me!) nights sleep! Ideally located for the early morning ferry from Rosslare.
