Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandThe property feels a bit dated with the exception of the lovely showers which were recently renewed. It's probably time to renew some of the furniture and freshen up the place. Ballyvaughan is a nice village but somewhat constrained in terms of choice of restaurants and bars due to closures (as of May 24).
It is a quaint thatched cottage and well located between Ballyvaughan village and pier and within an easy walk of both. It is spacious and reasonably well equipped. We were grateful for the flexibility with the check out time.

IrelandNot too much to be negative about, maybe upstairs bathroom in our cottage needs a refresh.
Very spacious and comfortable cottage. Great location to explore County Clare from (and tip up to Galway on a rainy day 🙂). Nice bars and restaurants in Ballyvaughen, would recommend dropping into O'Loclainn's

United StatesGreat location next to the water and an awesome restaurant (Monks) for our weekend near the Burren and Cliffs of Moher. We really apreciated that it was dog friendly and had nice spaces for the dogs out front and out back. Finding the place was a bit difficult as there are multiple cottages and we arrived late at night but once we found it we were home and very impressed with how spacious and well stocked it was.

NetherlandsThe downstairs bathroom though large could do with an extractor fan and the floor/shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom could be more waterproof. Other than those two small details we LOVED the cottage and only wish we could have stayed longer.
They key was literally left in the front door with the outside and inside lights on, heating on and even the electric blanket in the master bedroom turned on! So cosy! When looking for matches one day I called Claire as the shops were not yet open to see if she could tell me if they were in the cottage. 5 minutes later Claire dropped by with a box! The cottage location is excellent with the view from the windows over the inlet and the cottages opposite just superb. Everything is within walking distance and Bishop's Quarter beach just 2-3km away. Monk's fantastic seafood restaurant down the road is a fabulous bonus.

IrelandWas just there for two nights and was disappointed that some of the basics weren't there - silly things like some wood to light the fire, some salt for food etc Have stayed in lots of places around Ireland and this was the first that didn't provide these things. No fun finding a grocery store in the dark to source firelighters and wood and salt - had brought groceries with us to cook a meal but really thought the basics would be there
Pretty cottage, quite comfortable, lots of space. Not much in the village itself but only an hour to Galway and close to Alwee Cave and Cliffs of Moher. Lovely seafood restaurant a minutes walk from the cottage

United KingdomThe house would benefit from some maintenance work: repairing radiators, lights, door handles and leaks on the extension. Comfort always trumps quaintness and with some work the house could be restored to an excellent holiday home.
The location was perfect with beautiful views across the sea inlet and further beyond. Ballyvaughan is one of the best spots for a break with excellent restaurants, a well-stocked shop and wonderful pubs and tea rooms. The house was spacious and accessible. We appreciated being able to bring our dogs along with us.
