How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHaving my own bathroom and being in a traditional red brick home. Being close to the bus into town. Loved having the botanic gardens a share walk away. Food Orion nearby. Bernie went out of her way to make my stay an excellent one.
If you don’t like stairs this property has stairs.
Thanks Jane for taking time to write reeview and it was a pleasure having you stay.

Verified reviewI had a lovely, pleasant stay at the Botanic View. The location was easily accessible to the city centre, with plenty of pubs, restaurants, take aways. The beautiful National Botanic Gardens is a short walk too. Bernie was very helpful and friendly and made me feel welcomed.
Thanks for your kind comments and so glad you enjoyed your time with us.

Verified reviewIt was very pretty and in a nice quiet suburb. I felt very welcome, the house is nicely appointed and cozy. I am very happy to have stayed there and definitely will stay again. The bedding and linens were very comfortable, very pretty and everything was very clean. I was only there for one night and Bernie was very helpful with arranging a taxi back to Dublin airport. The location is also very convenient by bus.
Everything was great! Bernie is a wonderful host
Thank you for your kind comments and it was a pleasure having you stay. It was handy that you were able to share the taxi cost with another guest who happened to be going to the airport at the same time as you!!

Verified reviewClean and quiet, nice location within an easy bus ride to the centre, friendly and helpful host. I’d definitely come back.
The mattress was a bit on the bouncy side for my liking. I had to put the incense sticks out on the window sill as I found the smell very strong and it reminded me slightly of cigarette smoke. Once I’d put the increase outside, it wasn’t an issue anymore.

Verified reviewReally cozy little spot, especially nice in the single room with private bathroom. Host accommodated late check-in with clear instructions and was super helpful and sweet. Little outside of the city centre
Thank you for comments and it was a pleasure having you stay. Yes, we are a little outside city centre but our location is a quiet residential area so good nights sleep guaranteed! 6 bus routes pass beside us for city centre. Hope to see you again in the future!

Verified reviewBedroom clean bed comfy.
If you're a smoker, then it could be the right place to stay for you. The first thing that hit me was the smell of smoke when I first walked in. There was a wall socket coming away from the wall which I forgot to mention to owners.
I am trying to send you private message but having difficulty. GUESTS BEDROOMS AND GUESTS DINING AREA ARE ALL STRICTLY NON SMOKING so we apologise that you smelt smoke when you arrived. I have checked the room and cant find the "wall socket" you mention?? All I can find is the box/link for the TV channels which rests on mantlepiece and this is where it should be???

Verified reviewLoved the location, the breakfast room and the room was spacious and comfortable. Good shower to and comfortable bed.
The only thing I did not like was there was no access to a toilet downstairs. But that was mainly because my friend could not do the stairs often.
Thank you for your comments and glad you enjoyed your time here.

Verified reviewThe place was outstanding! The host was absolutely amazing, she gave us a personalised leaflet with a map of the city and the place, including options for transport, places to visit, pubs and recommendations. Tbh, I never received this type of attention and was impressed. The accommodation has a central location, there are different pubs and restaurants around the area, supermarkets, and the bus stop is located on the next corner which can transport you to most tourist places. Talking about the room, it was impressively clean. I have been traveling to different countries and the accommodations from booking are not the cleanest in comparison to other platforms. Still, this place was not only clean but pleasant, the bathroom was small but enough for having privacy for my partner and me, the host offered us an extra blanket but not needed as the room had heaters and a good duvet. I felt like I was at home. Additionally, we had no access to the full kitchen but not needed, we could use the microwave, kettle for hot water, cluttery and plates and the host was in charge of washing the dishes; also, the host offered breakfast for free, she offered toast, butter, jam, cereal, bananas, coffee, sugar, and milk, I know this is not a continental breakfast but this absolutely helped us for save money on morning food and spend it on some Guinness! We are very thankful for this experience. We will for sure book again if visit Dublin in the future. THANK YOU SO MUCH, BERNIE!
People can complain that the bathroom is small, but most of the places in Ireland don't offer a private bathroom so we are thankful for having privacy. This is not a complaint about the accommodation but the transport, if you want to use the bus and in your country every bus has card payments, it's a NO in Ireland, so be prepared with coins, no notes (and the exact amount as they don't give change) or buy your tickets upfront.
Thanks so much for taking time to write such a details review and it was lovely to meet you both and hope to have you with us again in the future! Bernie and PJ

Verified reviewWe stayed in Dublin spontaneously for the Rugby match and found that B&B last minute. The location was very handy, a couple of minutes from Croke Park, but very quiet and really nice. The hosts very absolutely friendly and helpful. The room was small, but beautiful, absolutely comfortable and with a private bathroom. We would stay there anytime again!

Poor internet connection.Blankets were not comfortable but good
We apologise for poor internet connection but ss my computer was linked up to my husband's system, I did not realise there was a problem until another guest informed us so if you had told us, we could have rectified the problem earlier. All our beds have duvets and as the weather temperature is so changeable at the moment, your bedroom has 2 good woollen blankets also so I am surprised at your comments about same??

Verified reviewCentral location close to bus stop. Quiet
Small shower. Difficult to find as no B&B sign
Thank you for your review. As our property is over 120 years old, we are very limited with the space available to install en suite shower rooms. This is a quiet residential street so we are not allowed to install sign on our property but all arriving guedts have our address and eircode/zip details. We are happy you found our property "quiet" as properties nearer the city do tend to be very busy with traffic etc!
