How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed the special touches the room had to offer. The little cookies, coffee and Tea, and our own individual bathroom. It was the perfect size room for the 5 of us and was a great landing spot as we explored around Dublin. While we never actually met our host, communication was clear and quick and we felt welcome.
There wasn't anything. I would stay again.

Verified reviewThe beds were comfortable, the room had great natural light and beautiful views of the Irish countryside, and the bathroom was a good size with plenty of hot water and great water pressure.
The owner wasn't at the property to check us in when we arrived. A sign on the door told us to call him, but we couldn't use our U.S. phones to dial his Ireland phone number. Thankfully, a European family arrived at the same time we did and let us use their phone. We purposely booked this Bed and BREAKFAST for the value of lodging and meals, and when we finally did meet the owner after check in, we were alarmed to find out they didn't provide breakfast at all. We pointed out that the website indicated breakfast. In fact, Booking.com shows that the B&B offers breakfast. The owner stated that wasn't his website. We pointed out that this was false advertising and asked what HIS website was and he said he didn't have one! He bluntly stated, "I'm selling this house anyway, so I don't have a website." When asked what we were supposed to do for breakfast for our family, he said there's a gas station nearby with pastries and a pub that offers breakfast (which turns out to not be true...only Sat. and Sun from 10:30am to 12pm., and we were there midweek). No concessions were made and he showed no concern. We were also expected to take our shoes off at the front door and walk up and down on slippery stairs with our luggage to get to our room.

Room was very small. There was no breakfast as I thought when I booked breakfast was included. Was further from village than I thought.

Verified reviewVery nice setting. The room was excellent. Very close to the village. Nice and quiet. Excellent views of Doolin. I recommend this to anyone who wants a great place without amenities.
There was zero access to a refrigerator or ice. Also, zero food options. The space was a little tight. No real negatives at all.

Verified reviewThis was a beautiful space, perfect for a family. Located within a few minutes of town in Doolin and 15 minutes from the Cliffs of Moher, it is a great location. We really enjoyed it here and highly recommend!

Verified reviewThe location was very clean and well maintained
We were surprised to find out that there is no breakfast, even though several reviews praised the breakfast and the website of the place advertised for breakfast. This is misleading and should be clearly indicated on booking.com. The rooms are not well insulated against noise and we heard other guests coming back late.

Verified reviewMartin was a lovely host, extremely pleasant to deal with. The house is located a short distance from Doolin village and amenities. The room had everything you could need for a short stay including a TV and kettle. We opted for a local taxi to bring us to/from the village centre when we headed out for the evening to eat & drink. Would happily recommend.

Verified reviewLoved the room, it was clean and the house was beautiful, bed was comfy and the area was beautiful. Shower was great.
As we were in the middle of nowhere and had travelled by plane and taxi, it would have been good if we had more coffee, milk and tea provided and a fridge as we only had enough milk for 1 coffee on the first night of our stay. Taxis were not available that were suggested in the welcome book and no takeaways available (not the lodges fault though). Also there was no iron and we were there for a wedding so clothes remained creased much to our dismay.

Verified reviewBeautiful, clean, comfortable
It’s unfortunate that it’s listed as a B&B but they don’t serve breakfast. And there are very limited local choices. To be fair, Martin sent us that info when we booked, but it is the one thing that could have been better. Otherwise terrific
