Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MaltaPerhaps the lack of restaurant choices. It is advisable to book your table at the restaurant beforehand.
The property was immaculate and well-kept. It had a feeling of a home away from home. The host was helpful in suggesting activities to do and was very welcoming. The breakfast was genuine, healthy and enough to keep us full till lunch. The view from the room was awesome. Location is nice and peaceful. Restaurants could be found within walking distance across the bridge.

United StatesThe two bedroom apartment is it's own separate building with a main floor living room, kitchen, and half bath. Upstairs, there is one larger bedroom (with a double and a twin bed), a small bedroom (with one twin bed), and a jack and jill bathroom in between. Frances is a warm and friendly host. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.

Czech RepublicGreat location, just across the road from Skellig visitor centre and a 10-min walk to Portmagee harbour. The host was very friendly and helpful, letting us have breakfast half an hour earlier than usual (due to the early departure of the boat), helping with the washing, etc.

We loved our stay at Carraiglaigh Liath House! The lady who owns it gives you the feeling that you are long awaited friends who visit! It is super clean, very comfortable and you get a lovely continental breakfast. She tells you all the good places to go and is just the sweetest Irish lady. The restaurants in Portmagee are in walking distance over the bridge.

United StatesThere wasn't anything I didn't like. I did feel like I was making more noise than I wanted to with the floor boards. That could be the only thing. Otherwise it was perfect.
It was a lovely house and the hosts were absolutely wonderful. It was a short walk to town across a bridge and perfect distance to get to our boat trip.

United States- yogurt, some fruit, and cold cereal options for breakfast; neither a hot breakfast (eggs) nor protein options (sliced meat) were presented in a town with no other options early in the morning - no refrigerator or hot plate were available either for us to make our own hot meal
- location is superb and our top-floor room had a great view of the water - Frances is a very personable host who will provide some sightseeing suggestions

PolandI had a wonderful stay in Portmagee! The host was exceptionally hospitable and made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was spacious, beautifully clean, and offered a stunning view of the sea — truly a perfect place to relax. Each morning, I enjoyed delicious breakfasts that were both hearty and thoughtfully prepared. The location couldn't have been better — just steps away from the harbor, which made exploring Portmagee and taking boat trips incredibly convenient. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

United StatesThe property is stunning. A fantastic view surrounds the entire property. Very close proximity to Portmagee marina, less than 10 minutes, perfect for a boat tour around the Skellig island. Frances, the host, was an absolute pleasure and had wonderful recommendations on where to eat and what to do in and around Valentia Island. A light continental breakfast was provided which was a perfect way to start the day! If I am ever back in the area, and hopefully I will be, Carraig Liath House would be at the top of my list!

United StatesThe host and hostess could not have been more accommodating. We arrived as strangers, and three days later, left as friends. The little house is comfy, has all the needed amenities, has a beautiful view of the bay, which is located literally yards away. The property is easy to find and there are pubs and restaurants very close by, as well as historical places to visit. I would highly recommend this home.

The house is located on Valentia Island, offering a truly breath-taking view of the surrounding landscape—absolutely mesmerizing and perfect for relaxation. Our room and bathroom were spotless, with everything maintained to a very high standard. The cleanliness and attention to detail made our stay even more comfortable. To top it off, they even offered some breakfast, which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Overall, a fantastic experience! GermanyFantastic location on the Ring of Kerry. We had the best time with Frances, she is a great person and a warm host. You can get to many sights such as the breathtaking Kerry Cliffs in just a few minutes by car and the village of Portmagee in just a few minutes on foot.
