Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe hotel needs some repairs. We noted a broken window. And the floor around the sink was dirty. Tissues in the room would have been appreciated. Help with our bags would have helped quite a bit.
We liked the hotel’s historic decor. The staff was lovely. The pub food was good and so was the entertainment.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with a walk in shower. The evening meal (Irish Stew) was very tasty and the musical entertainment enjoyable. Within walking distance of the book of Kells and the coach to the airport.

Canada• Shower heads aren't regularly cleaned. Hard water/limescale deposits can be clearly seen. • Shower heads are the fixed type, not the detachable type. This is more of a matter of preference, so this disclosure is mainly for transparency. There are more drawbacks, but please note the following: 1. The hotel building is old, so more contemporary comforts may not be feasible for them 2. What I've noted is based on my experience, and may not necessarily apply to other rooms - • The bathroom doesn't appear to have adequate ventilation, so any odors and shower steam will linger for longer than you would like. Leave the door open if that is an issue for you. • There was no individual heating or air conditioning that can be controlled from the guest's end. This may be an issue if you plan on visiting when the weather is very hot or cold, but hardly problematic when the temperature is just right. The windows can be opened to some extent, and there is a small electric fan in the room. Based on photos that I've seen online, some rooms are equipped with radiators, so your mileage may vary. • Minimal soundproofing. Any sound coming from the hallways can be very clearly heard. I recommend you refrain from having private conversations with sensitive details in the hallway, as people occupying the adjacent rooms will hear you.
• Bed is clean and comfortable • Towels are impeccably clean • Bathroom water heat and pressure (both shower and sink) are more than adequate • Complimentary bottle of water along with coffee & tea supplies replenished every night • Solid breakfast. The table service breakfast served downstairs is even better. • Good location. Far enough from the city noise, but close enough to walk to places of interest. If you don't like walking, it doesn't take too many steps to reach a bus stop.

United StatesWe were there during a rare heat wave and on the top floor so had to battle the dilemma of having the windows open to keep cool but then having to deal with a little noise from the neighborhood pubs. They did provide a fan for the room which was appreciated.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great each morning. Rooms were very clean.

United StatesThe rooms and hotel is somewhat outdated - the stairs and floor are squeaking and there is some sewer smell coming out of the bathroom
Breakfast is very good - they have two restaurants, so there are options for both continental buffet and/or Irish breakfast menu. THey have parking (15 euro/night) which is very convenient considering how hard it is to find parking in Dublin if you don't want to pay a lot to the parking garages. The staffs are nice.

United KingdomWe were on the top floor so our shower had very little water pressure. We managed to shower but it was a bit of a challenge!
Fantastic location. Beautifully and tastefully decorated hotel. Wonderful friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious food. Comfortable bed. Excellent entertainment every night with Irish dancing on a Friday and Saturday night. Would return at the drop of a hat! Was relatively expensive but if you want a stately and relaxing hotel, this one is worth every penny!

AustraliaRoom was a bit hot and stuffy. Very low flow shower heads. No streaming service option on tv.
Great location, an easy walk to everything. Hotel itself was nicely decorated. Breakfast options were great. Our family room was spacious. Bathroom was a great size too with both a bath and shower and a seperate shower. Generous bathroom products. We managed to get one of the car parking spots within the gated courtyard area, very handy.
