A truly charming estate where every corner whispers history. One of a kind place and I’m looking forward to come back here again. We had a two bedroom apartment upstairs with the kitchen, spacious bedrooms and bathroom. Breakfast was served just is if it were out of Jane Austin book, adding timeless atmosphere. The location is close to Kylemore Abbey and Castle Ashford. The roads that take you to all of these places is another beautiful thing to behold — magical and unforgettable experience.

The location is a bit far from inhabited centers but a good starting point to reach Cong, I do not recommend the nearby Tuuam

If you want to experience living in an Irish nobleman's mansion, you're in the right place. The stay is a dive into the past, surrounded by greenery. We didn't have a room, but a spacious and bright apartment with a kitchen and a large bathroom with a tub. It was beautiful! Joyce is truly welcoming and kind, and prepares an excellent breakfast. The owners gave us helpful tips for exploring the area. Truly a beautiful place.

Great place, great time, great people. They were lovely, and full of advice. It was a quiet retreat, the room was spacious, perfectly well made. Modern but with that "old" charm you would expect from a house that is centuries old. Would definitely come back.

Location was very handy to Tuam, and close enough to Galway city and the coast. The house is lovely, very well kept and the gardens are beautiful. I really enjoyed just relaxing in the conservatory with a book and a glass of wine, looking out at the scenic view. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty to choose from. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. We plan to stay again with friends.

Lovely old home,lovely character to the place. Very peaceful and relaxing here. Lots of beautiful art everywhere , lovely old library. Gorgeous walk close by and owners were lovely. Highly recommend

Beautiful setting. The only castle available during our trip that we could afford. Great breakfast and chef accommodated our vegan family. Coffee great. Great tip to go to Knocknea (Spelling?) park and hill nearby.

Loved everything about this stately, homely home.

An absolute gem of a hideaway and treat. We had the most amazing time in this beautiful house, hosted by the wonderful Joyce and Aidan. Such history in the house! Such comfort in it's peaceful settings and surroundings. Our room was huge,with magnificent views. The gorgeous mahogany sleigh bed offered up the most comfortable night sleep we've ever had on holiday. Everything was spotlessly clean and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. A fantastic choice range, and you knew without asking that breakfast was cooked by qualified chef who gave so much thought to taste and presentation! We loved the tranquility of the house. Literally you cannot hear a sound, not a car or whisper. Having no television in the rooms was bliss. If downtime and escape from the daily stresses is what you seek then look no further than Castlehackett House. It's idyllic! A lovely house in a beautiful setting. Superb breakfast with lots of variety. Joyce was very friendly and helpful with advice about places to see and places to eat in the area. A spacious hotel, with a small number of rooms, which I'd describe as lowkey but luxurious.

The lack of a tv during the Olympic Games was a disappointment.

There was nothing to dislike.

Delicious breakfast, big variety of hot and cold food. Very warm and friendly hosts with great tips on places to visit, what to see in local area. House was exceptional, peaceful, beautiful, various rooms to use relaxing and comfortable. So much space and a lovely calm atmosphere. Bedroom was spacious with wonderful view, clean , simple, very comfortable bed. Couldn't think of an improvement, hence 5 stars.
