How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review“I had a wonderful stay at this property. The house was very neat and tidy, and my room was well put together and comfortable. My host Chez Sè is not only thoughtful—he even made me a nice coffee—but also incredibly funny and a great storyteller. His stories made my stay even more enjoyable, and I couldn’t stop laughing! I would definitely recommend staying here.”
I love everything but the Price needs reviewing.
Ada, thank you for a wonderful review. I naturally keep the price under review. A full breakfast is included in the price when you book and if you do not have a breakfast the price may appear high. There is also a high commission to be paid to Booking.com. I enjoyed your staying here and hope you will come again Sèamus for Chez Sè

Verified reviewThe property was bright & clean. It was close to where we were doing our voluntary work - and in a nice area. We slept great. The host went to great rounds to ensure we had the food we’d like for breakfast and even pushed the boat out to try a dish a bit different from the usual spec. And it was delicious.
Unfortunately it didn’t have its name up so we had to go in to enquire if we were in the right place. Parking seemed a bit of an obstacle, with the host requiring the driver to drive very close to a kerb even though there was ample room without having to do that. While it was lovely & clean, there was only one chair in the double room. However, our host kindly allowed us to use the garden where we could chill out during sunset.

Verified reviewVery friendly host, excellent breakfast, parking onsite. Walking distance to a local pub that served good food. In a great county with plenty to see and do.
Not having tea and coffee facility in the room and feeling hesitant to go into the lounge room and asking.
Hi Michael, Water is provided in rooms but drips from tea/coffee tends to stain bed linen and carpet so are provided in lounge and conservatory at any time. You only have to ask. Our motto: just like staying at grandma's

Verified reviewLovely quiet house, excellent location. Beautiful ensuite. Our host was great offered tea on arrival and when we came in that night too.
The bed a bit small.
Thank you Mary for your kind comments. By way of explanation, the bed is a standard 4.5 foot wide bed, the max size because of the fitted wardrobes. Despite this you both slept well and I look forward to offering you tea/coffee on your next visit.

Verified reviewSeamus is a wonderful host, and Drogheda is a town worth visiting! The room was compact but met our needs and the bed was quite comfortable. Lovely home and the breakfast was fantastic. So much on offer. And great conversation with Seamus and the other guests. He could not have been more helpful, even recommending a lovely nearby restaurant.
We were on foot and the walk from the train with our luggage was a little further from town than we were hoping. Next morning we were able to store luggage at the station (but this is not always available) and walk around the town and museum quite freely.
Thank you Catherine. You are very kind. I hope you will stay again. Sèamus

Verified reviewThe breakfast was excellent, with a very wide choice, including cooked, cereals including porridge (a huge bowl!), white or wholemeal toast. Also soda bread, jam, muffins (plain or blueberry) - all home made by Seamus. Hospitality was second to none. Seamus couldn't do enough for us, including information, booking a taxi etc. Room had two double wardrobes with hangers, and dressing gowns provided. The location in Bryanstown is residential and very quiet, with quick bus or taxi transport into the centre of Drogheda.
Can't really think of anything.
Brian, thank you for your review. Truth to be told, I enjoyed the visit of the 4 of you. You were very good company and I hope you will stay here again.

The bathroom was separate from the bedroom.
Thank you for your kind comments. Although separate, the bathroom was exclusive to you and less than 0.5 meters from your room. As advised when booking, yours was the room without an ensuite. Thank you. We hope you will stay again.

Verified reviewThis has got to be one of the best B & Bs ever. We have never felt so at home. Seamus is the perfect host. Amazing breakfasts. We were so looked after - it was like a big hug, from start to finish. In terms of practicalities, its a 5 minute drive/ 40 minute walk to Drogheda centre. Its also perfect for the Boyne Valley and the coast down to Dublin. The location is easy to find and wonderfully peaceful. An OK pub nearby.
Thank you for a great review. It also feels like a big hug. I hope we will see you again.
