Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Catriona was always very kind and helpful in everything. The house is really cosy and the location is great, with heatlands on the back and meadows and the ocean in front. A very quiet place, in the heart of Connemara.

United StatesEnjoyed everything. The location was perfect for me on Lower Sky Road. Made the trip to Sky Road very convenient. Beautiful beach within walking distance, not for swimming. I prefer to be a bit out of town, and this location was just right. Catriona was a wonderful host!

Very convenient location, only a few minutes drive from Clifden city center. Lovely space with incredible view of the ocean. Host was very responsive and checked in frequently to make sure everything was satisfactory. Continental breakfast was excellent and Catriona even checked in beforehand for food allergies and preferences. Would absolutely stay here again.

United KingdomCatriona was a perfect host, gave a warm, genuine friendly Irish welcome. I was a little late arriving & she'd left some bread & eggs in the fridge with milk, yoghurt & juice so I could make something without having to go out. Very kind. Spotless apartment, everything you'd need & more. Air fryer & egg poacher (I don't even eat eggs!) fridge freezer, microwave & a good continental breakfast selection. Beautiful landscape & a lovely bench in the garden to relax & take in the stunning Atlantic views. I relaxed on the sofa in the bedroom in the evening & could watch a Netflix movie on the TV in the room too. Catriona is a delightful host, very helpful & kind. I couldn't fault a thing. Superb.

Superb location and the host, Catriona, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Large, light and airy well furnished bedroom and bathroom. Small kitchenette area with standard-size fridge, microwave, air fryer and electric egg boiler.

NorwayThe beautiful Cloonan House is tastefully furnished with a cosy atmosphere. An ideal place for reading and writing. In the morning I woke up by the sound of waves lapping the shore. When the sun was high in the sky, I had a run along The Sky Road while marvelling at the beauty of the Atlantic Sea and the spectacular mountains. Catriona was thoughtful and attentive. She made sure that I felt comfortable and safe throughout my stay in her house. A very lovely hostess.

A lovely apartment with its own private entrance. It’s tastefully designed with lots of thoughtful extras - bathrobes and slippers, luxury toiletries, range of teas, little bottles of wine, etc. Also a generous breakfast laid on. The view is stunning and Catriona is the most friendly and welcoming host. We would recommend this unreservedly!

United StatesThe location was great: we could see the ocean from one of our sky windows and the other overlooking a beautiful hill that had two white horses. I will post pictures once we settle in our next place. Catriona was also a very good host. My partner came down with food poisoning, and she was very kind and accommodating

The bathroom was large and well supplied There was a binder in the room with lots of information about the area which was very useful. Communication with hostess was very good with prompt replies. The location was good. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back.

United StatesReally nothing we didn't like. It's a five-star all the way with us.
Catriona has been hosting for a couple of years now, and her experience shows. She's thought of everything, from fresh flowers in the room when we arrived to fresh fruit in a bowl for breakfast—in addition to yogurts, cereals and various breads and sweets to fill in. The space is a beautifully refurbished suite of rooms in the “attic”—one flight above the ground floor—so you do have to duck if you come too close to the side walls. (It wasn’t a problem for us at all, but we’re only of average height.) The bathroom is spacious, with a small chest of drawers for toiletries. The fixtures are new and sparkling clean. Two skylights in the main bedroom are outfitted with velux windows, one looking up a cliff face inland and one giving onto the ocean and islands in the distance. You can open them to get as much breeze as you would like. We didn’t even need or bother to use the gas-log heater, but it would be cozy if you needed it. The place is quite convenient (by car) to the rather bustling town of Clifden, the unofficial center of the Connemara, yet it's an entirely peaceful and idyllic country environment.

FranceThe rain and wind, therefore nothing of Catriona's responsability! But we got some sun.
The location is on sky road and the view on the sea and the other peninsulas is fantastic, even through a window in the roof. One is at the far end of Europe. Yet the town of Clifden is 12 minutes away and it has plenty of pubs, and the festival in september. It is the optimal place to stay a few days to visit all Connemara Catriona has been very attentive to our needs , indications to find the house, breakfast, and very kind.

IrelandThere is nothing we didn't like but I will write two lines to consider whether this is the place for you, firstly there are stairs up to the room which might not suit everyone and secondly the Mind Your Head signs are there to warn you that there is a sloping ceiling, you may bump your head but you have been warned and don't let that put you off because the pros out way the cons 1000 fold.
What a wonderful stay. Please be aware that I am writing this review having spent 2 nights at Cloonan House with some of the best weather in Ireland for years, it was perfection. This is a perfect place for couples to stop off for 3-4 days whilst touring Connemara and the West of Ireland. The views are stunning to the front you look out across to sandy beaches on the other side of the bay, to the rear the hill rises up to the Sky Road. In the mornings my wife and I took our breakfasts and sat at the front of the house, looking our over the sea, watching the small birds, it was to peaceful, absolute perfection. The house is perfectly located for night's out in Clifden without being in the heart of the town, it is a 10 minute drive or cheap taxi ride back. Before I comment on Cloonan House I want to highlight a couple of must dos during your stay 1. Kylemore Abbey could be the best tourist attraction in Ireland, it is an absolute must. 2. The fabulous 5 Km Broadwalk to the Alcock and Brown landing site, superbly done by Tourist Ireland, through the peat bogs, an easy flat walk with great interactive information as you walk around, we spent 2 hours walking 5 Km, loved it. 3. Bunowen Bay, absolutely spotless not one piece of rubbish on the beach, free car parking, beautiful clean sand and the water crystal clear, no lifeguard but they do have a 1200m sea swim mapped out with buoys a gem of a beach and well worth a visit. Then finally to Cloonan House and Triona, what a fabullous host, Triona has built the perfect retreat for a couple of days R&R. There is a lovely big room with a large bed, a sofa, chest of drawers, large TV, good WiFi everything you need for a few days stay. The bathroom was absolutely spotless and it was full of bits and pieces that you might have forgotten. There is a fridge that Triona overstocks with food and drinks for your continental breakfast, it was very generous. The rooms exceed what you need and are perfect to come back to.
