Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The bathroom and shower could have been a little cleaner. There’s a glass shelf over the sink that needs to be removed, it’s not serving any purpose and getting in the way when washing.
The price, location and convenience was perfect for our needs. The room was comfortable with good natural light. Parking was great. There was a fan in the room which was really needed, Liam was there when we arrived and showed us our room.

Stayed one week... The room was never cleaned and we never saw anyone of the staff. Very impersonal. A few irritating maintenance issues.

At first when I booked the room, it showed Clover Cottage as in town on Google maps. I was surprised when I found out via the booking confirmation that it was actually a km walk. No worries though. It turned out well.
Good location in a quiet part of Kinsale. Only a 1km walk into town. Bed was very comfortable. Coffee and tea ingredients were appreciated.

Booking on this site, it appeared to be a conventional B & B. There was no one there to receive you and we’re traveling from out of the country. They sent a message that day to say there was a code to get in, but we had no way of knowing as we didn’t have cell service. The parking and location was tough for US driver.

It s a pity we didn’t have the privilege to meet the host, but he was well communicative via message. Pity the host doesn’t provide the breakfast option.

There was nothing I didn't like about this stay, met all our needs.
This was a lovely house and we were given a beautiful large bright room. Bed was very comfortable. Check in was easy, we didn't meet the hosts but everything was straightforward. It's located about a 20 minute walk into Kinsale town centre which suited us very well. Nice quiet area too.

Clover cottage is not a hotel, so the cost of just one room is very high at €134/Night. Ireland is very expensive now but still this is a high price for what you get.
Kinsale is very busy in high season so it was good to get a place here. The lady who was looking after the rooms was very pleasant.

Good checking in communication. The property is individual on suite large rooms in a large house. Rooms are very clean, good facilities with small fridge, tea and coffee making. Parking at the front. Possible to walk into Kinsale in a little over 10 minutes.

There is little sound proofing between rooms so as long as every guest is aware and respectful it’s not a problem.
This is a lovely, grand home with about 5-6 rooms. The rooms were clean and large, and the beds comfortable. We appreciated having a mini fridge and the ability to make tea & coffee in our room. Clover Cottage is about a 5 minute drive from the core of Kinsale. The check-in process was very easy.

Mattress way too firm with no cushioning. Not enough tea/coffee/milk for 2 people for a 2 night stay(3 tea bags, 3 coffee sachets and 3 portions it milk). Could clearly hear people in next room.
Quiet location. TV was decent and needed due to the poor weather.

We stayed in room 1 which is large and has a separate dressing area and fridge. Comfortable bed and powerful shower. Nice gardens and parking area in front of the house. 15 minute walk from the town centre
