How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Good size communal area and very nice breakfast all at a great price. Close to town centre where we had a great meal and drinks at a superb pub. This was the best value place we stayed at on a 10 day Ireland tour

Noise of traffic on the main road right next to the property, and we had to keep the window open as it was really warm so we could hear all up to the small hours.
Great location so close to Donegal Town. Rooms were spotlessly clean and well serviced.

There was no food service at all.not even breakfast. We recieved a email notifying us of this late that night. We would have liked to relax and not have to drive to town .
They were nice and offered self service for check in and out. It seemed secure

That there was no breakfast served on the Monday morning. Room was very warm.
The room was clean and the 2 young ladies who served Breakfast on the Sunday morning were very friendly and bubbly. Lovely to see. Breakfast was good.

Just the entry system as outlined. But it did work out fine really!
It was a fabulous place, everything about it was great. Good value for money too. Didn't give it 10 because of the strange arrival system with codes and keys in an envelope - beforehand it feels a bit stressful, and the code entry thing was a bit odd. There was someone there to help though!

I only stayed for one night, but it was such a memorable experience. The B&B is cozy, spotless, and very comfortable, but what truly makes it special is the owner. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for, creating such a warm and personal atmosphere. I left wishing I could have stayed longer — highly recommended!”

Property was located close to a main busy road so there was a lot of traffic noise when the windows were left open. When close it was quiet. The bathroom fan was likely worn and made a load noise when in operation.
Clean and tidy room with a double and single bed. Easy electronic check in when you get the hang of it. Breakfast was optional which suited our stay. The owner met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee facilities were available in the room. Safe off road parking with lots of space. There was a dedicated children's play area on site.

Enjoyed our stay at the Donegal manor. The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean. It was exactly as advertised. The location was great and literally 3 min drive to Donegal downtown. Parking was zero hassle which if we were staying at the downtown would be difficult.

nobody answers the phone. I found having to book online very difficult and the boarding pass and key code difficult as the internet didn't,work on my phone. The hosts were very accommodating texting me back with the relevant information to get around this problem.

No breakfast included, but this is due to upcoming renovations to the building. Whether I stay there or not in the near/far future, hopefully there will be tasty breakfasts for all.
Very kind of owners to immediately upgrade my room since no-one else was staying in Donegal House at the time. Huge grounds which allows for a well-sized car park.

It was an unseasonably warm day and our top floor room got pretty stuffy but I’m sure those days are few and far between! Everything else was great.
Room was big, well-equipped and comfy! Big bed, nice to have a Smart TV too.
