How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewReception guy is so nice and helpful and beautiful smile he really makes you feel welcome.
Noise in lobby and room next to lobby you can hear it. Loud Spanish people talking very loudly til very late. Should be quiet policy after 11pm in lobby. Also seems to be a lot of people living in the hostel which I don’t like.

Verified reviewThe Dublin Quayside is a good hostel, though it is almost impossible to find because it is unmarked. The young man who checked me in was superb. The room was comfy and I appreciated not being in a bunk bed. The location is great. All in all, I had a good experience.
The only thing I really didn't like was not being able to locate it. I was very lucky and grateful that someone staying at the hostel walked in because I would have been looking forever.

Verified reviewGreat staff, nice vibe, people are friendly. Great location.
Not that clean but OK. You won't have access to the kitchen unless you stay for more than one week which is odd. Beds aren't that comfy. Some of the showers are clogged and water builds up especially the ones upstairs. Regular service is required indeed. I find increasing the prices on the weekend is unfair as it is already expensive for a hostel (I know Dublin is an expensive city but still ...)

Verified reviewWell connected with the city center, not as expensive as other accommodations and also quiet then other more centric hostels. Reception is open 24 h and staff was really great and accommodating, my locker had a broken lock and they fix it for when we came at night. They also kept our luggage after we check out so we could do some more visiting on the city before heading to the airport. Has a spacious hall with tables where you can relax or have lunch and free coffee and tea.
Personally I think more shared bathrooms will be a plus, we needed to go to the below floor to the toilet. But this was not a great deal to be fair. Fits the purpose and the price compare with other places in Dublin. Maybe indications of the name outside? We were confused as it’s not indicated that that’s a hostel

Verified reviewThe biggest thing with this hostel is that everyone has their own beds, no bunks. Makes sleeping alot easier and there is less people on each room.
There's no sign for the hostel, so you just have to find the door on the street and hope for the best. They're is also a beer garden right beside it, so noise levels can be quite loud, so not great for sensitive sleepers. The pillow provided also could use replacement.

Verified reviewNothing
Here is the list: 1. There’s no signboard outside indicating that it’s a hostel. 2. No lift — we had to climb stairs while carrying luggage. 3. The room was congested and suffocating, with no fan or ventilation. 4. Lockers had no locks, making them unsafe. 5. Mixed dormitory with drunk men — unsafe for women.

Verified reviewThe staff was quite nice in general.
Keys to the hostel and rooms require you to download an app which opens the locks with NFC. So you need to bring your phone and keep it charged at all times. The bedroom doors close very badly and closing it can be quite loud. People were rummaging around the room at 2 am, and staff let people in the room while they did not have a bed booked for the night.

Verified reviewThe staff tried to be helpful but it was lawless.
It seemed like there were no rules. There was partying in the communal area until 5 or 6 jn the morning and nobody asking for quiet. Other travellers arrived during night with no regard for others. Coffee and tea but no milk. Cheap but extremely stressful and not worth even €5 per night. No signage & approx. 1.5km at least from O'Connell St so not even conveniènt
