How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a good location - close enough to walk to downtown Galway, but quiet.
We thought the rooms were small since we hardly had any room to maneuver, but European hotels are small. The shower in the single bed room was very tiny. I’m not sure how a person over 5’8” could manage.

It was not a warm Irish welcome. Not cozy.I would not recommend this place to anyone. The Manager was abrupt. Booking.com advertised there was a lounge for guests and chocolate for guests in the room. There was no lounge in the house. I chose this place as a solo traveller so I could meet other travellers. I was put into a room I had to access via a side gate, it was a converted garage at the back of the property and did not feel safe. I did not 'enjoy Irish hospitality' as advertised. Woken early by rubbish bins being moved. No chocolate, I messaged the manager, he messaged back that he'd eaten it all with a 'laugh' emoji. Eating area was sterile not welcoming. I went into the B&B next door by mistake , called 'Asgard'. It was so much more welcoming and friendly from the decor to the welcome from the host. Guests there were able to chat because of the layout and a comfortable seating area.Wish I'd stayed there.
Hi Roslyn Thank you for your feedback. As you checked in after our reception was closed you were issued with self check in instructions which you acknowledged were clear. I am unsure of what interaction, if any ,you would of had with other guests after 10pm on a Sunday evening . The tongue in cheek response to your chocolate request was because we do not advertise on any platforms that we avail the guests of free chocolates. The room in the courtyard is perfectly safe as the manager stays next to that room and we have had no incidents whatsoever. It is heartening that you remarked the Dining Room was sterile as opposed to septic, we take great pride in the presentation and cleanliness of our premises. Apologies for the noise with the bins as these are placed in closed enclosures for hygiene reasons. With the little interaction you had with the manager it is rather puzzling that you say he was abrupt as he only saw you at breakfast and prepared your meal. Many thanks.

Verified reviewWe really liked the location. The house is located 15 minutes from the city centre and that was great. The food was very very good and the chef was lovely.
This place is literally ONLY BED and Breakfast. There were 4 beds squeezed into the room, there was no space (thank God it did not rain cause I cannot imagine how we would have managed wet jackets, umbrellas etc etc), no proper table and chairs to sit at, no shelves, no hooks to hang towels or jackets so our towels were hanging on the headboards. We were travelling with teenagers. We asked to use the dining room to play board games/ cards in the evening and we were told it was a room only. Creating a small common area for guests would really change this place for the better. Alternatively, in this particular room, I would replace one single bed with a bunk bed and remove one by the window to create space for a table with two chairs. It felt like they were trying to squeeze as many people as possible. Also, no fan in the room and it was really hot, no hair dryer, no bin. Cleaning service... hmmmm someone came to the room, folded our towels (they did not seem fresh, just folded so we had no idea whose towel was which) but did not take dirty cups or rubbish that were on the table. If you are young and you just need a bed to sleep cause your plan is to be out and about most of the time, this place is perfect. If you hope for a little bit more than just a bed, you might be disappointed.

Verified reviewOur host was very friendly and accommodating. The location is within walking distance to the town and the breakfast was excellent. We were happy to be on the ground level as their is no elevator.
The room was very small for three people and the shower was so small that my wife couldn't use it. The shower head could not be adjusted. There was no way to work out of our suitcases without leaving them on the beds.

Verified reviewThe property was close to the city and the staff were great! Bed was comfy!
Bathroom/shower was very small and there was a gap in the door reflecting the shower in the outside sink mirror meaning there was very little privacy in the bathroom. Walls are definitely quite thin
