Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Cold... the heater not on and its cold .. if u stay downstairs in kitchen it's good.
Clean & nice view with 6 horses.. the bed is comfortably warm after u stayed in it awhile..

The shower was a bit difficult to use Also, not that it was a big problem, but indications on which type of waste goes in which bins would be useful for foreign guests.
The owner, Ger, was nice and helpful when we had questions. Pretty house and location. Quiet neighbourhood, with a busstop to the town center (15min ride and 1,90pp). The kitchen was very clean, well equipped, the self-service breakfast had everything we needed. We did not experience any problem sharing the bathroom or the house in general with other guests. All in all, pretty satisfied with our stay there.

No hot water in shower - we could not take a shower. There was a mechanism to limit the amount of hot water but it ended up dispensing no hot water.
Staff was very nice, it was clean and close to downtown. Only issue is the shower.

No contact with host or other persons living/ staying in house, especially given shared bathroom/ kitchen. Other guests very noisy quite late at night.House only has one bathroom including toilet making morning routines quite stressful with 6 people in the house.
Homeliness, use of kitchen , generous breakfast. Good communication from host.

Location good. We had a car but there is a bus stop on road just at end of estate. Exceptionally clean house. Self service breakfast was good. Spacious bright kitchen. Really comfy beds.

Bed was ok but didn't find mattress very comfortable
We had an appointment at the hospital and although it 's not very close it worked ok as weather was dry for us to walk. We appreciated being able to easily contact our host and she was happy for us to leave our car there a couple of hours longer than our check out time and that enabled us to have a bit of time in the city aswell.

Absent host, 4 small first floor bedrooms sharing one small bathroom including toilet. No separate guest lounge, no tv. Self serve continental breakfast was ok.
Located in a nice quiet residential area, good facilities.

Wifi didn’t work. Having to take shoes on and off at front door was a bit annoying. Could be a little noisy at times as there’s a number of other people staying in the unit so could hear everything.
Property was clean. Parking out the front. Easy to find. Close to public transport. Close drive to city centre. Ger was easy to communicate with via messages. The little breakfast items were a nice surprise.

Our room was next to the bathroom so we could listen every time and someone were using. The people from the others rooms did a lot of noise after midnight, it was difficult to sleep.
The location it's in a very quiet place. Everything is really clean, and the staff was amazing.

The guest who checked in were unsure of their assigned room numbers, so we all got a little mixed up, but we worked it out. I thought that it accommodations would be closer to Galway, but they were kind of far away.
It was quiet at night. The breakfast was good and healthy.

A tv might've been nice, but it didn't matter to us at all

The owner is a Ukrainian woman who cannot speak a word of English so at the start there was a bit of confusion over the rooms and if it was the right address

The bedroom was very tight. Hardly any room to walk around the bed. Also very low water pressure in the shower. And we had to buy extra toilet paper.
The bed was super comfortable. Also the climate in the room was very good.

We choose this location outside of Galway, which turned out to be a really great idea as it was lovely and quiet and very easy to catch the bus into town. Our room had its own ensuite and both the bedroom and bathroom were a good size and immaculately clean. Guests have access to the kitchen and breakfast items are provided with a small fridge for guests to use. The Ukrainian ladies, who look after the place were really lovely.

Issues with water heater and fuses. Also, further from downtown than it seemed when booking.

I appreciate it's a lodgings and the owner lived elsewhere, so I didn't meet her. There were no personal touches such as a welcome note, or flowers in the bedroom, which other AirBnBs have provided.
Self-service breakfast provision was good, including cereals, daily fresh bread, fresh fruit, orange juice, milk and yogurts. I didn't meet the owner but she answered my phone call when I was concerned about arriving later than expected, and provided useful travel advice.
