Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandSome of the common areas were very tired looking with carpets that need replacing. It is a beautiful historical building and more could have been done with colour in the outside baskets.
Lovely hotel in a great location. Very comfortable bed and huge bathroom, recently upgraded. Food was excellent and the conservatory was a beautiful place to dine with outstanding views of the bay. Breakfast was very tasty with a good choice of options.

Ireland1. The room was smaller than I expected ( room 212 ). 2. There was no safe ( being picky here ). 3. The tea was quite cold as part of the breakfast ( was self catering but cold both mornings ). 4. The bar was more a mini restaurant but still very nice.
1. Great location - very near the Garnish Island ferry & 1km from the town centre. 2. Great view of the bay from the window ( room 212 ). 3. The price for B&B was quite good given the prices these days for August. 4. Free car park ( not always the case these days) 5. Excellent dinner in the restaurant - Great view of the bay from the exterior/glass part of the restaurant. 6. Excellent full Irish breakfast. 7. Staff were very efficient & friendly. 8. Loved the lobby for just sitting around. 9. Great shower. 10. Great escalator / lift ( not always the case ! ). 11. Comfortable bed.

IrelandAt dinner we waited an hour for the main the be served, and the restaurant was fairly quiet. Staff seemed disorganised and the side salad arrived as we were ordering dessert. At breakfast the hot food (just 2 people ordering 2 eggs each) took over 45 minutes to be served and we had to remind the staff that we were waiting, so did other people in the room. The poached eggs were very over done, disappointing given the wait. Overall we had a pleasant stay in the room and at the spa however the service in the restaurant was very poor & disappointing both times, especially as this is a 4 stars hotel. We expected better.
The room and shower were nice. The view to the sea was lovely. The spa hot tub and sauna were very nice, with great views from a quiet balcony. The facial treatments were very relaxing. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both menus had good Vegetarian and Vegan options.

IrelandThe carpets throughout the hotel could do with a shampoo. Coming out from the restaurant particucilarly they are very sticky and dirty looking. Also, some help with bags would have been nice, We were in 336, a lovely spaacious room, but my mother has a heart contition and found the steps up and down very exhausting.
The staff were exceptional, very helpful and generous with their time

IrelandJust a little thing, the steps between the split floors can be a little problem if you have a heart condition, but I very much understand it's to do with the age of the building.
Location and the staff were excellent.

IrelandThe first room we were given was a 'forest room, which I chose as I love garden and forest vistas, rather than sea views.. The description is a bit deceiving, as the hotels' flat roofs, air vents, and air conditioning units are what you mostly see, with trees at the back! Our first room was 111, and I asked for a transfer as the noise from the air conditioning unit was too loud. The room was also tiny, much smaller than you would expect for the price charged! This room had two single beds. I spoke to reception, and they immediately changed our room to 309, which was a forest room again, but was a decent size and much quieter. It was a lovely room, so we were very happy. You are also provided with bath robes and slippers, which is a nice touch. I would not describe the hotel as a luxury hotel, only because of the furnishings in the rooms etc, they are not of a high standard, but perfectly usable. We really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay at Eccles again. It was lovely. 8/10
The views are amazing. It's a great location to stay at while visiting different attractions on the Beara Peninsula. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The beds were very comfortable, and the rain shower was great, with an extra shower head that you could hold in your hand. The food was lovely, especially the fish and chips in the bar. The verandah restaurant overlooking the water was beautiful, the food was good, although a tad luke warm.

Staff are really nice and helpful. The spa is a lovely outside terrace with 2 hot bubble baths, 2 cold water barrels and a sauna, all with sea view.
