Be aware that the rental company who manages the bookings are separate from the owner. Like others, I was a bit confused with the generic property notes that were provided by the booking company (security deposit, utilities, towel cost were unclear), but once I contacted the owner directly, all was cleared right up and we had a lovely chat regarding our trip and family life. The WiFi is more than adequate for a vacation and light usage here and there, but would be hard pressed to work remotely for long stints reliably should that be desired. These are minor quips, however, and I would emphatically state that the positives far outweigh these.

The Hillside Cottage is a perfect getaway with great access to nearby towns and situated within 10-20 mins of both the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. Our family of four found the cottage quite comfortable. The cottage is a wonderful mix of old-world stone cottage and modern amenities. A well-stocked kitchen and washer/dryer allowed us to pack lighter and cook in most nights we stayed, which was a plus for us traveling with young children. In the evenings, the cottage is quite cozy no matter what the weather outside, with the wood burning stove (radiator also available and able to set to your comfort) providing plenty of warmth on a cold rainy night. The owner goes above and beyond in assisting guests with any questions or recommendations for the area and has little how-to guides around most of the appliances, which are extremely helpful for those who are not used to Euro standards. If you’re looking for a great stop as a base for western Ireland, look no further! We would absolutely stay again and again.

When we arrived the heater was not working. It's was so cold. I had my mom who is elderly n quite difficult for her and all of us. The house was so dusty and full of cobwebs. Not sure that's the theme. My son who is allergic to dust was sneezing all the way. One day rained heavily and one of the rooms leaked and destroy quite a bit of my stuff. The house and location was superb with the beautiful view. But it was not maintained well. They didn't gv towel and wanted to charge for the towels when we asked for it. Quite dissapointed, if the house is well kept it would hv been a great stay. It was cold most of the time. As the heater was on timer and short time.

The search for the property was an adventure itself as it is secluded but after finding it, it was really a great location with great view.

Making payment through your rental agent was challenging as their link to our bank would not work. We had to call long distance at our expense to pay. Also, information on what to expect on heating and towels was too broad (not specific to your property), which we found confusing. We would have preferred more control over the heating.

We loved the peacefulness and the views. The house was very comfortable with much room and a modern kitchen and bathroom. Annemarie was a delightful greeter with many suggestions of things to do in the area.
